As technology continues to evolve, so does emergency response. This week, members of Carrollton Fire Rescue attended the annual Electric Vehicle and Stored Energy Summit at Texas A&M, where fire service professionals, engineers and hazardous materials experts from across the country came together to share insights, lessons learned and emerging best practices related to EV and battery-related emergencies.

Training opportunities like these help ensure our personnel remain prepared to safely respond to the ever-changing challenges facing the fire service and the communities we serve.

Today, we celebrate the mothers who hold everything together, the ones who show up with strength, compassion, sacrifice, and unwavering love every single day.

To the moms in our Carrollton Police and Fire Rescue families, and to all mothers in our community: thank you for being our first heroes, our biggest supporters, and the heart behind so much of what we do. We know it’s not always easy, but you continue to do it all anyway, and for that, we are endlessly grateful.

Happy Mother’s Day from the Carrollton Police Department and Carrollton Fire Rescue.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF:

To our great Carrollton community,
This week has been an incredibly difficult one for our city.

Our officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and partner agencies responded to a series of violent incidents that resulted in the tragic loss of two lives and injuries to three others. While the person responsible was quickly taken into custody and there is no ongoing threat to the public, the impact of this tragedy will be felt deeply throughout our community for some time.

First and foremost, our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, and loved ones. No words can truly ease the pain caused by such senseless violence, but please know that the Carrollton Police Department and Carrollton Texas Fire Rescue stand beside you during this unimaginable time. We mourn with you, and we remain committed to seeking justice for those affected.

I also want to recognize the extraordinary professionalism and courage shown by the men and women who responded to these incidents. From the initial emergency calls to the apprehension of the suspect, countless first responders acted swiftly, selflessly, and with unwavering dedication under extremely difficult circumstances. Their actions protected Carrolltonians.

We are especially grateful for the assistance and partnership provided by the Lewisville Police Department, Lewisville Fire, Irving Police Department, Farmers Branch Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Denton County Sheriff's Office, Denton County Constable's Office Pct 6, the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, ATF, and the U.S. Marshals. In moments like these, the strength of collaboration among agencies is invaluable.

We would also like to thank our media partners for their professionalism, patience, and responsible coverage throughout this rapidly evolving situation. Your efforts helped keep the public informed while allowing first responders and investigators to safely and effectively carry out their work.

Incidents like this are heartbreaking reminders of how fragile life can be. They also remind us of the resilience, compassion, and unity that define Carrollton. In the face of tragedy, we continue to come together to support one another, care for those hurting, and move forward as a community.

As this investigation continues, we ask for patience and compassion for everyone impacted. We also encourage our community to keep the victims and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of every person who vistis our great city and everyone who calls Carrollton home.

Sincerely,
Chief A
Roberto Arredondo
Chief of Police
