Carroll County 4-H Members and Families - It is that time of year again! We need you to call the office to sign up for your shift for parking at the Algonquin Mill Festival. This year the Festival will be October 9-11, and we need volunteers for all three days. The Carroll County 4-H Committee is supported by funds raised from parking at this event and those funds in turn go to support our 4-H youth by helping cover expenses for things like camp and fair ribbons. All Carroll County 4-H youth benefit from the funds raised at this event and we need your help to ensure its success. Call the office today at 330.627.4310 to get on the calendar.

Free Spaghetti Dinner! Join us at the fairgrounds Sept 26 from 4-6pm. Teen Leaders will be serving up to 200 meals free to our community to anyone in need, no questions asked!

Every year the Teen Leaders take a group leadership project. This year they chose Pantry Panic. With this project they learned ho to balance healthy, balanced meals on a budget. They also researched how to stretch those food dollars when the budget doesn't want to balance. We took a trip to Urban mission where a group of them helped stock shelves in their choice pantry, packed boxes for delivery to homebound residents and spoke in length to Urban Mission Director, Kimberly Arbaugh.

Because of this experience the club wanted to give back to their local community. We will have dine in and carry out options available!

In 2027, Ohio 4-H teens will have the opportunity to participate in two unique Global Immersion Projects:

Greece at the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, where participants will explore agricultural innovation, food production, leadership development, Greek culture, and iconic destinations like Meteora and the Mount Olympus region.

Austria at the LFS Pyhra Agricultural High School, where youth will work alongside Austrian students, explore agriculture and food systems, visit Vienna, hike in the Alps, and gain real-world international experience.

These experiences are designed for Ohio 4-H members who are curious about the world, passionate about agriculture, and ready to develop their leadership skills.
To apply, youth must first receive a nomination from an Ohio 4-H Professional. Then applications are sent directly to those nominated.

Nomination deadline: September 30

Interested Ohio 4-H members should contact their county 4-H Professional at their local Extension office to learn more about the nomination and selection process.

More information about these and all 2027 Global and Cultural Immersion experiences can be found on the Ohio 4-H Youth Development Cultural Immersion webpage: https://ohio4h.org/families/just-teens/cultural-immersion-projects

Preserving Apples?
Apples are one of the most versatile fruits - they can be eaten fresh, frozen, canned, dried, or turned into pies or apple sauce.
Apples contain vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fiber.
One medium apple contains about 95 calories and 3 apples will weigh about 1 pound.
To decide which variety of apples will provide the best results for your salad, pie, or other apple recipes - check out the Selecting, Storing, and Serving Ohio Apples Fact Sheet ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/HYG-5507
