As of 11 AM Tuesday January 7th Carroll County has downgraded from a level 3 snow emergency to a level 1. Roads are becoming more navigable but are still slick and snow covered in most places. Please continue to use caution and also please continue to give snow removal crews the right of way so they can continue their work.

Last night at approximately 12:30am the weather siren located at Oak Lane near Boone Rd sounded off on its own. There was no severe weather and we are currently working to understand what caused it to sound off and address the issue.

The current burn ban for Carroll County has been lifted.

Carroll County has enacted a burn ban for the whole county due to dry conditions that increase the potential for fire hazards.

Informational only: a large mulch fire is ongoing at Scott’s located on Ladder Lane. This is creating a large smoke cloud from the wood burning. Fire Dept is on the scene and working with Scott’s representatives to mitigate the incident.

Highway 36 west in Carroll County is currently closed to all traffic. This is due to a serious accident. It also involves hazardous material mitigation as well as reconstruction of the accident. It is closed from the Highway 36 and 42 split to Hampton lane. It is unknown at this time how long it will be closed but it will likely be up to three hours

Spectrum voice will be doing upgrades in our area starting tonight through 3/8/24. During these upgrades, access to 911 emergency services through your Spectrum phone service may be disrupted. Spectrum is advising customers to have other options available, such as a cell phone, if your Spectrum land line phone services is not available.

Highland Avenue is currently closed to all thru traffic from Eleventh Street to Park Avenue. This closure is due to a non injury accident and a secondary accident that has resulted in downed powerlines. Kentucky Utilities is enroute to this location fo repairs. Estimated time of closure is approximately 4 hours.Please avoid this area.
