UPDATE: At 5:52 pm: The NWS in Peachtree City has cancelled the severe thunderstorm watch for our area.

Due to the line of storms in Alabama that are moving into our area, the NWS in Peachtree City has placed us under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm EST.

Please be weather aware over the next few hours.

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers responded to the Crown Inn on North Park Street in reference to a reported shooting and gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh. The victim was transported to an Atlanta-area hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been identified as Darrion Je'Juan Mitchell, 25, of Carrollton, who is currently in custody and charged with Aggravated Assault. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.

Last week, members of the Carrollton Police Department and law enforcement professionals from across our region had the opportunity to attend a powerful and thought-provoking presentation on the Chris Watts case, presented by FBI Special Agent Grahm Coder and CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) Agent-in-Charge Tammy Lee.

While the case itself has been widely publicized, Agent Coder and Agent Lee provided attendees with a unique behind-the-scenes look at the investigation, lessons learned, and the often overlooked mental and emotional impacts that cases can have on investigators and other first responders. We are incredibly grateful to them both for taking the time to come to Georgia and share with us.

A special thank you to Detective Brandon Wilson for coordinating this outstanding and unique training opportunity.

We would also like to thank Dunkin’ Donuts on Bankhead Highway for generously providing donuts and refreshments for our attendees. Your support of local law enforcement is greatly appreciated!

She was last seen wearing a Lilo & Stitch shirt with pink shorts.

On May 25, 2026, officers responded to 915 Lovvorn Road (River Pointe Apartments) in reference to a reported shooting.

When first responders arrived, a 39-year-old male and a 34-year-old female were found deceased inside the residence. The individuals were discovered by a family member who contacted 911.

The incident remains under investigation. At this time, preliminary information indicates the case appears to be a murder-suicide.
