Pearl River County Volunteer Fire Departments are responding frequently to “Out Of Control” field and woods fires. Conditions are dangerous for burning due to low humidity, wind and dry conditions. Approx 10-12 by noon today.
If you see a fire or smoke in the area, try and confirm there is a need for the fire departmant. Many of our responses have been for fires that are completely under control.
If possible, please refrain from burning
If not please make sure to stay with fire until it is completely extinguished
Have a good fire break outside of fire
Have a means to control fire; water hose, rake, shovel etc
Burn late in afternoon once humidity begins to fall and winds have decreased.
Most of all, inform the Non-Emergency number to Sherriff dept that you intend to burn.
