🌡️Heads up! High temperatures expected this week!

The National Weather Service is forecasting record high temperatures for our area this week. As temperatures increase, please exercise caution when working outside and watch for signs of heat related illnesses in yourself and others.

Some actions you can take to protect yourself from extreme heat are:

🎒🔥 Back-to-School Fire Safety

As the new school year begins next week, take a few minutes to make fire safety part of your family’s routine!

🏠 Review your home fire escape plan: Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room and where to meet outside.
🚨 Test your smoke & CO alarms to make sure they’re working properly.
🚌 Talk about school bus safety: Stay alert around buses, follow the driver’s instructions, and never walk behind a bus.
👩‍🚒 Know what to do: Make sure children know how to call 911, what information to provide, and that they should never go back inside a burning building.

We hope everyone has a safe and successful school year!

🔥🎒Heading Back to Campus? Make Fire Safety a Priority

As college students return to campus, take a few minutes to make sure your living space is fire-safe:

• Make sure you can hear the building alarm system from your room.
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms monthly and never disable them.
• Practice safe charging and follow your school’s rules for electrical appliances.
• Stay in the kitchen while cooking and only cook when you are alert.
• Know your building’s evacuation plan and practice fire drills. If you live off campus, have two ways out of every room.
• When an alarm sounds, get out quickly and stay out.

A few minutes of preparation can make all the difference. Start the semester smart and stay fire safe.
