💙 What does TABLE do when we’re closed for the week? A LOT!

Our team is taking a break from our regular schedule this week, but there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes! We asked our staff what they’ve been working on, and the answers show just how many moving pieces go into making TABLE happen. 🌱

From preparing for Empty Bowls, ordering snacks, and organizing our nonperishable food inventory to working on family communications, planning upcoming programs, and so much more, every member of our team plays an important role in keeping TABLE moving forward.

We’re so proud of our team and all the work they do to support local kids and families. This video is just a little peek behind the scenes! 👀

We’re excited to get back to our regular schedule next Tuesday, September 8, and we’d love for you to stop by and meet our team!

🌿🌻 Twin Creeks Farm is having a beautiful harvest!

Basil is growing in abundance, and the sunflowers and zinnias are blooming in full force. We love seeing this local harvest make its way into our community, from brightening the worship space at the neighboring Won Buddhist Temple to adding a little sunshine to tables at local restaurants. 💛

A huge thank-you to our nine restaurant partners who are helping give these flowers a home: Venable, Auto Strada Pizza, Auto Strada Gelato, B/sides Lounge, 411 West, Squids, Mez, Page Road Grill, and Lulu Bang Bang! 🌻

We’re so grateful to Jim Sander of Wildflower Lane Farm, Blair Po***ck, Abby Bethune, and all the community members and volunteers who help make this incredible harvest possible. Thank you for helping Twin Creeks Farm grow and share so much goodness with our community! 🌱💚

Maya, pictured here with TABLE’s own Director of Development, Katisha, recently held a bake sale and generously donated the funds she raised to TABLE! We’re so grateful that she used her time and talent to give back and support local kids.

📦 We need your help with TABLE’s annual inventory!

We’re looking for 11 volunteers to help us weigh all the food in our office as we close out our fiscal year. This hands-on shift involves moving moderately heavy boxes (15–20 lbs), using our dollies and carts, and, of course, a little bit of math! 🧮

🛍️ We need your grocery bags!

Did you know TABLE reuses clean, used plastic grocery bags to package food for the children we serve each week? By giving bags a second life, we can reduce plastic waste and avoid buying new ones whenever possible. 💚

Have a stash of grocery bags at home? Bring them to the TABLE office the next time you come in for a volunteer shift! Every bag helps us feed local kids while reducing waste. 🌱

And a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated clamshells and ice packs! Our shelves are full, so we no longer need these items at this time. We’re so grateful for your help in keeping useful materials in circulation and supporting local kids. 💙

We’re so grateful for all the hard work, energy, and care you brought to TABLE this summer! 🩵 You’ve been such an important part of our team, helping us keep things running and supporting our families every step of the way.

A special shoutout to Leah, Likitha, and Loretta for all the work you put into our programs this summer! 👏

And to our high school interns, thank you for stocking, sorting, answering phone calls, checking families out, and jumping in wherever you were needed. You’ve accomplished so much!

📣 TABLE will be closed Monday, August 31 through Monday, September 7.

During this time, our staff will be working together to create TABLE’s strategic plan for the year ahead. This plan will help us set new goals, develop new programs, and find sustainable ways to feed even more local kids. 💙 We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to sharing more with you!

We’ll be sending home more food than usual the week of August 24 to account for the closure. There will be no food distribution or delivery shifts from August 31 through September 7.

🍝 It’s Chefs@Home time! 🌈

This month’s kit features a colorful Summer Rainbow Pasta Salad packed with fresh veggies like yellow squash, zucchini, and bell peppers. 🥒🫑 Families can enjoy it as-is or customize it with their favorite vegetables and protein for a delicious summer meal!

We’re so grateful for the incredible volunteers who help make Chefs@Home and all of TABLE’s programs possible! 💚 From fresh food shift volunteers (like the crew pictured here!) and nonperishable shift volunteers to delivery drivers and everyone in between, thank you for the time, energy, and care you give to making sure local kids and families have access to fresh, nutritious food.

Here’s to fresh food, fun in the kitchen, and learning at home! 🌱
