We understand many residents have questions regarding the Village's planned transition from QuadCom to SEECOM for emergency dispatch services.
While this topic has recently generated discussion online, the Village Board publicly approved its withdrawal from QuadCom on April 21, 2026, following months of evaluation, discussion, and analysis.
Most importantly, residents should know that this transition will not relocate Carpentersville police officers, firefighters, or paramedics, nor will it delay emergency personnel from responding to calls for service in our community. Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics will continue serving Carpentersville from the same stations and facilities they do today. The location of the dispatch center does not determine where emergency responders are stationed or deployed from.
Our police roster added three positions in the past year, and we have the largest Fire Department staffing levels in Village history. The Village remains committed to investing in public safety resources and ensuring residents continue to receive the high level of service they expect and deserve.
The decision to transition dispatch services was based on numerous factors, including operational sustainability, service capacity, regional coordination, technology needs, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources. The Village's evaluation also included how best to support emergency communications services for years to come.
This transition includes a 12-month notice period, allowing ample time for planning, coordination, training, and implementation to ensure uninterrupted emergency communications services, which is an absolute requirement by our standards as well as the State of Illinois standards.
By partnering with SEECOM, the Village is projected to save approximately $400,000 in annual savings through a fixed-rate agreement while maintaining emergency communications services. These savings help support continued investment in public safety personnel, equipment, training, and infrastructure that directly benefit our residents.
We understand that public safety is deeply important to our residents because it is deeply important to us as well. We remain committed to providing accurate information, answering questions, and ensuring a smooth transition process.
Thank you for taking the time to stay informed and engaged in our community.
