Last night, Carpentersville came together to remember. 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, our community gathered at Riverfront Park to honor the lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, and remember a day that forever changed our nation.
Throughout the evening, we heard stories of service, sacrifice and the extraordinary ways people came together in the days following September 11. We honored those who answered the call that morning, those who never returned home, and all whose lives were forever changed.
As the ceremony came to a close, two beams of light rose above Riverfront Park — illuminating the night sky and bringing us back to the simple reason we gathered:
To remember.
Our sincere thanks to True Patriots Care for helping make this meaningful evening possible, and to Village President John Skillman, the Village Board of Trustees, Representative Suzanne Ness and Senator Cristina Castro for joining our community in remembrance.
We are deeply grateful to our keynote speaker Mr. Garris, Pastor Phil, the students and musicians of Dundee-Crown High School, our Honor Guard, and the members of the Carpentersville Police and Fire Departments who helped make the ceremony so meaningful.
Thank you as well to HR Green, Inc. for generously providing refreshements for our guests, and to the Village staff, volunteers and community partners who contributed their time, talents and support throughout the evening.
And most importantly, thank you to every resident, family, student, first responder and neighbor who joined us.
Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we make sure their stories continue to be told.
