Sharing a blast from the past. 10 years ago we were assisting 65 people. Much of the work was done by our founder, a part time staff person an Interns from Baker. They made a difference. Leave a comment if you were an intern.

This is the reality of the work we do. A lifelong caregiver and babysitter - only 45 years old and now residing in a nursing home due to an unexpected and life-altering health event - was just denied Social Security Disability.

It’s a reminder that the path to support is often long and full of obstacles. Connections Human Services took this case pro bono because we believe no one should have to face these hurdles alone. We’re upset and disappointed, but we’re still fighting for her.

As a small non-profit, our resources for pro bono advocacy are limited. Cases like this require hours of work.

If you would like to support our ability to take on more pro bono cases for neighbors in need, please consider donating here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/support-connections-human-services-this-giving-tuesday

While we love these fun superhero suits, the real "superpowers" at Connections Human Services are the dedication, empathy, and hard work our staff puts in every single day.

We are honored to serve our clients, who are the true heroes in our eyes. Every day, they battle through life’s struggles with resilience and strength. Our mission is to be the bridge that helps them navigate those gaps - protecting their interests and providing the high-quality services they deserve to live their best, most independent lives.

To our incredible team: thank you for being the protectors and providers our community needs. And to our clients: thank you for inspiring us to be our best selves every day! 🛡️🤝

Kindness truly creates a ripple effect! When we posted about our client Rusty’s wish for food from McDonald's, one donor, Tina Morley-Learman, surprised us with $40 to help out. We are so incredibly grateful for that, and we are equally appreciative of our partnership with McDonald's of Cass City, who generously donated a gift card to ensure Rusty was well cared for.

Because of this combined support, we’ve been able to pay that kindness forward. We are planning to deliver McDonald's gift cards to two of our other clients at MediLodge of Cass City who have zero income. It brings us such joy to be able to provide these unexpected treats to those we serve.

Thank you to Logan Gonzales and the entire team at McDonald's for your partnership. Your willingness to work with us makes it possible for Connections Human Services to bring a little extra comfort to our clients.

🍟💛 Thank you from Connections Human Services!

Connections Human Services would like to extend our deepest condolences to our colleagues and fellow guardians at Guardian Care LLC located in Southfield Michigan. This week the Guardian Care family lost its Founder, President and Leader, Georgia Callis. Georgia was a fierce advocate for the wellbeing of the vulnerable and fair legislation to protect them. She served on the Michigan Guardianship Association for many years and was President at the time of her passing. Prior to the creation of Connections Human Services Guardian Care provided guardianship here in the Thumb to assist in meeting an un met need. Georgia, Rest in Peace, Guardian Care Family, you are in our thoughts.

This is not one of our clients, but we are familiar with the home where he resides. The manager of the home stopped in today and was spreading the word about him not returning home. Please keep on the lookout!

UPDATE: SUBJECT HAS BEEN LOCATED

Thanks to FLOCK cameras we were able to get hits on Vargo's vehicle as it traveled all the way to Florida. Cpl Jon Bonk made contact with Vargo and reported the great news. Interestingly enough, Bonk used to work as a Tuscola County Sheriff's Deputy in the Corrections Division. We are happy he is still serving the citizens of Tuscola, even from Florida!
