Human Development Commission Community Action Agency HDC: Restoring Hope by Helping People and Changing Lives.

HDC is one of approximately 1,000 Community Action Agencies (CAAs) serving the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. CAAs were the centerpiece of President Lyndon Johnson's "War on Poverty" and founded as non-profit organizations that fight poverty at the local level. CAAs cover all cities and counties in the country and are a primary source of support for low-income individuals and seniors who wish to become self-sufficient and/or live independently.

Happy Saturday! 🎪

The HDC Fun Fair is coming up this Wednesday, June 3 from 3:30–6:00 PM at 429 Montague Ave., Caro!

Along with free family fun, dinner, games, prizes, cotton candy, popcorn, popsicles, balloon twisting, and face painting, we’ll also have Diaper & Incontinence Program sign-up available at the event.

This program is for all ages — children, adults, and seniors — and supplies are delivered right to your door.

Come enjoy the fun, get connected, and learn more about support available for you and your family! ❤️💙

Due to an incredible influx of community donations, we are currently not accepting donations of clothing or household items at this time. We are so grateful for the ongoing support and generosity shown to our survivors and shelter program.

At this time, we are especially in need of donations of over-the-counter medications for babies, children, and adults, including:
• Pain relievers
• Fever reducers
• Tums/antacids
• Cold and flu medication
• Children’s medicine
• Baby teething or fever relief items

For the safety of our clients, we are only able to accept unopened bottles or sealed packages of medication donations.

Donation coordination can be arranged by call or text at 989-551-8336 or by contacting Abbey at [email protected].

These items help us respond quickly to the everyday needs of survivors and families in our care.

We absolutely loved having Troop 50558 volunteer with us at Spoonfuls of Plenty! 💚 Their smiles, kindness, and helping hearts made such a special impact on our guests and volunteers.

And since it’s Wednesday… that means it’s Spoonfuls of Plenty day again! 🍽️

Today’s meal includes beef stir fry, fried rice, a spring roll, and a pineapple cup.

A special thank you to the Lions Club for sponsoring today’s meal and helping us continue serving our community. We can’t promise today’s helpers will be quite as adorable as the Girl Scouts 😉 but we can promise they are just as friendly and full of helping hearts!

HDC Offices and Senior Dining Centers will be closed today, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for our Annual All-Staff Company Event.

All HDC offices will be closed to the general public starting at 11:00 AM today for our Annual All-Staff Company Event. We appreciate your understanding as we take this time to come together as a team!
