🚴‍♂️🚨 CALLING ALL YOUNG RIDERS! 🚨🚴‍♀️

Ready for a Saturday morning packed with bikes, smiles, and fire engines? Join Bike Carmel and the Carmel Fire Department on Saturday, June 6, for a very special Family Fun Ride: Firehouse Edition!

We are kicking things off at Carmel Middle School with our interactive Bike Rodeo course—perfect for practicing those starting, stopping and steering skills. Plus, you can grab a free custom caricature drawing of the family! 🎨

Then, get ready for the main event: a spectacular bicycle parade escorted by CFD's very own Chief Moriarty in a real fire engine! 🚒 The parade will roll straight to the Carmel Fire S.A.F.E. House for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and the fire museum.

🗓 Schedule of Events:

8:30 AM – 9:30 AM: Check-in, Bike Rodeo skills course, & free caricatures
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: CFD Fire Engine Parade & Safe House tour
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Final skills practice at the Bike Rodeo

🎒 What to bring: Your bicycle, a big smile and a well-fitting helmet (required for all riders!).

Fire hydrants must remain visible and accessible at all times. Do not plant or place landscaping around hydrants, as they can become difficult to locate and access during an emergency. Seconds matter! Please keep a clear area around all hydrants year-round. If you have a hydrant you are concerned about, give us a ring. 317-571-2600

Last week, CFD recruits successfully completed Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations training.

Recruits learned how to respond to and help mitigate hazardous materials emergencies, while also supporting Level A entry crews during high-risk or large incidents. The training covered critical skills needed to safely operate in hazardous environments and protect both the public and responders.

We regularly encounter everything from natural gas leaks in residential neighborhoods, fuel spills from vehicle accidents, and carbon monoxide alarms in homes and businesses. We also see chemical releases at commercial properties, pool chemical incidents, unknown odor investigations that require careful identification and mitigation, and large quantities of hazardous materials going through Carmel every day on 465 / 31.

All our recruits are now certified in HazMat Awareness / Operations. Congratulations on another milestone in your training journey.
