The fires in Big Sur have subsided with the Plasket Fire at 97% containment. While the Timber Fire continues to smolder in the northwest corner the fire is now 59% contained and we sincerely thank all the agencies that battled both blazer. Highway 1 is fully open from the San Luis Obispo County line to Monterey.

There is still time to get your tickets to support Mid Coast Fire.

A few things to note before the event on 26th

Parking is limited so if at all possible please carpool. If you need assistance walking up the dirt road, please let the firefighters and/or board members know as you drive in so we can assist you. If you don't tell us, we cannot help.

If you are not familiar with the Big Sur Coast it is great to note that the weather can change at a moment's notice. It can be clear and beautiful, cold, and it essentially can feel like rain if the fog decides to roll on in and then warm the next minute so dress in layers.
Bring a flashlight as one of the most wonderful things about Big Sur is the lack of light pollution adding to the viewing of the abundant stars and the full Harvest Moon, however, it can be treacherous for walking. Wandering around the Ranch is not allowed so please stay within the confines of the event.

If you plan on purchasing a Silent Auction Item Cash or Credit Cards are the only forms of accepted payment. We do not accept checks...sorry!!

Land Rover 4x4 course driving experience, Gift certificates for: Fresh local grass fed and finished beef from Big Surs "The Lonely Bull", Noras, O'Callahans, Allegro Pizza, Solstice, W**e Tasting, One night stay at Deetjens with dinner and breakfast, one night stay at The River Inn, Two night stay at The Lodge in Big Sur, Handmade bags, paintings and photography art from our local artists. How about some excellent bottles of w**e, or yoga, body work, massage, a facial, Big Sur Cannabotanical, and many more. There is something for everyone.

Unfortunately our Silent Auction Items are not on line...
However after the Silent Auction anything that does not hit the minimum bid will go online. We will let you know and plan on making the online portion a reality for next years event. Great suggestions community.

Our goal is to raise $172,000 to purchase and replace our Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A).

Our Mid Coast Community is so very lucky that the fire did not come into our area. If the weather holds we are hoping their direct efforts hold.
Best news is that Big Sur is open once again although the South Coast remains closed. Excellent effort and work by all agencies involved.
Our Harvest Moon Ball 9/26/26) is a go and I need your help! We have many excellent Silent Auction items which include sport fishing, private 6 course dinner for 8 at a local Big Sur home overlooking the ocean, local art and photography, a Land Rover 4x4 driving course experience and many more.
We are trying to raise funds to replace our outdated Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A.) and need your help. If you are unable to attend please consider donating and/ or sharing on your social media.

Looking East towards the Ventana Window from Palo Colorado Canyon. The Timber Fire is now over 12,000 acres and continues to spread Northeast and Southeast and is well established in the Wilderness.

As we wake this morning the Timber Fire has grown to over 800 acres with evacuations as far north as the Ventana Inn. Our hearts go out to our Big Sur community members affected by this fire.
Unfortunately a incident like this is a stark reminder of the fragile place we love and live.
Please it is never too late to clear around your home and have a solid list of what to take if that evacuation order is issued including your medications.
The pictures are taken from Palo Colorado Canyon looking south and east as the morning smoke settled in.

Our Fire Bridge covers 32 square miles with 11 miles of Highway 1 which includes the World Famous Bixby Bridge.
We are in need of replacing all of our outdate Self Contained Breathing apparatus and funds received from the county (60k) annually pays for insurance and some vehicle maintenance. We must raise funds for every other necessity.

Getting to be that time of year on the Central Coast. Be vigilant and prepared! Have your go bag ready and a list of what to take so you don’t panic grab if the time comes. Last but not least video annually your home and contents for insurance purposes… it doesn’t work like you think.

Saturday June 6th was our annual training RT130 Wildland Fire Training Day. CalFire sent two Schedule B engines to train with us that included E4681 and E4691. So much learning, excellent mentoring and the best crews we’ve had the pleasure to work alongside.
Excellent day had by all!
