SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING GUIDELINES AND RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

Carmel Clay Schools (“CCS”) embraces social media as another means to communicate with stakeholders and share relevant information about the school corporation. CCS-managed social media accounts are provided for the benefit of the school community and are updates to share achievements of students and staff, as well as school-related news

and other helpful information. CCS-managed social media accounts are not intended to circumvent standard communication channels for sharing personal issues and concerns. CCS administrators assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee monitor all comments posted on CCS social media accounts (“Page Administrators”). The intent of monitoring district social media is not to keep any negative or critical information from being posted, but to protect the privacy and other rights of staff and students. Page Administrators may review any post to check that users follow the below guidelines. We welcome thoughts and comments. However, when participating in a district-managed social media site, users are not permitted to:
1. Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes intellectual property and other protections that prohibit posting material that infringes on the rights of the district or an individual or entity.
2. Use abusive or make inappropriate language or statements, or post inappropriate images or other visual depictions. This includes postings that are threatening, harassing, illegal, obscene, lewd, vulgar, defamatory, libelous, personal attacks, or hostile.
3. Post the phone numbers, email addresses, or other confidential information of students, faculty, staff, or any person other than the user. If the user posts his/her own contact information, he/she should be aware it will be available to the public and subject to possible misuse.
4. Post material that promotes or advertises services or products, except those pre-approved by the district.
5. Post material, language, or images related to a political campaign.
6. Post spam, chain-letter-like communications, or the same comment multiple times.
7. Allow others to use your identity for posting or viewing comments.
8. Post links to other social networking sites that do not adhere to these guidelines.
9. Act as a spokesperson or impersonate a representative of the district.
10. Alter, modify or otherwise change or use any post, comment, or message made by the district that results in a misrepresentation or change in the meaning of the original message.
11. Promote, foster, or perpetrate discrimination based upon a protected class. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive. The mission of CCS Schools is to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. Please be certain that your comments are appropriate for a K-12 environment and people of all ages. Page Administrators reserve the right to:
1. Remove or refuse to post any comments that violate these guidelines at any time.
2. Ban future posts or input from people who repeatedly violate these guidelines including refusing posts from specific email addresses or IP addresses. Users who are found to repeatedly violate the CCS guidelines will be issued a warning. Upon the third warning, users may be blocked from the CCS social media channel. Individuals may be blocked immediately for severely inappropriate posts. Page Administrators will maintain a record of all posts or comments removed for violation of these guidelines. By participating in district-managed social media, the user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless CCS Schools, its affiliates, directors, employees, and successors against any damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, causes of action, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs) arising out of any claim by a third party relating to any material user has posted on the school-sponsored sites.

School might be out, but our Carmel Clay Schools elementary teachers are still hard at work leveling up their classrooms!

This week, K-5 math educators leaned into professional development with the "Building Thinking Classrooms" framework. Our teachers explored innovative ways to shift from passive learning to active, deep mathematical thinking. They collaborated to implement vertical non-permanent surfaces, use strategic random groupings, and pair them perfectly with our Reveal Math curriculum. We are so incredibly grateful for our staff’s willingness to keep learning and growing, ensuring that our schools remain spaces of high engagement and deep thinking. Thank you for your passion, dedication, and commitment to our students' success!

Meet Officer John Fike!

Before joining CPD in 2021 he attended Indiana University East and was apart of the IU Cadet Program and was able to get his degree and become state certified to become a law enforcement officer. Before joining the SRU he was a Field Training Officer and a member of the CPD Drone Unit.

Outside of work Officer Fike enjoys traveling, taking his dogs to the dog park, and a good round of golf. He is also a Track and Cross-Country coach for Creekside Middle School.

After announcing this winter that Carmel High School had 23 Presidential Scholar Candidates, we are proud to share that five students have now advanced to the semifinalist stage for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Out of only 627 semifinalists nationwide, this is an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of the outstanding dedication and achievement of these students.

Carmel High School has had at least one U.S. Presidential Scholar every year since 2021, including both Indiana honorees in 2023. Congratulations to these exceptional Greyhounds!

It may be the last day of school, but we still have some BIG wins to celebrate! 🏆

Earlier this week, the Carmel Middle School Girls Track Team completed the season mission by winning the Hamilton County Championship for the first time since 2007 — while also finishing the program’s first undefeated season since 2007!

This team scored in every single event and capped off an incredible season with determination, teamwork, and unforgettable performances. We are so proud of this group and everything they accomplished this year!

⭐ County Champions:
🥇 4x800 Relay - Gracia Wiley, Cameron Clark, Allie Pohlman, and Delaney Sweeney — 10:11.85
🥇 4x100 Relay + SCHOOL RECORD - Grace Fisher, Brooklynn Hamlett, Ellie Demko, and Kinley Ketcham — 51.77
🥇 400m - Delaney Sweeney — 60.11
🥇 Discus - Zoey Hetrick — PR 89’1”

An unforgettable finish to an unforgettable season! 💙

Thank you to the Carmel Fire Department for supporting our students and providing an invaluable learning experience!

Today, we are sending off our high school intern, Bridget Davis, as she wraps up her senior year at Carmel High School working alongside the Carmel Fire Department in an administrative internship role.

Throughout the year, Bridget supported several divisional projects that benefited both our department and the community we serve. Her professionalism, work ethic, and willingness to help made her a valuable part of our team.

This fall, Bridget plans to attend Indiana University Bloomington, and we are excited to see all she accomplishes in the future.

We are grateful for the time she spent with us and wish her all the best in her next chapter. Congratulations, Bridget!
