🚧 Chipper Days Begin Monday 🚧

Just a reminder that starting Monday, Chipper Days will be underway within the Carmel Highlands Fire District. This program helps residents reduce vegetation and lower wildfire risk by safely removing chipped material.

Taking part is a simple step that makes a big difference in reducing fuel loading and improving community safety.

🔥🌲Carmel Highlands Fire/CAL FIRE is excited to team up with California State Parks and Caltrans for vegetation management along the Highway 1 corridor in front of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve!

This project not only reduces wildfire risk along this iconic stretch of highway, but also addresses hazard trees at the park entrance — including several that had already come down into utility lines.

Wildfires don’t stop at jurisdictional boundaries… and neither do our Vegetation Management Projects! 💪🔥

Our UAS program was recently featured in the Monterey Herald! 🚁
It’s exciting to see how this emerging technology is already making a real impact on safety, efficiency, and the way we serve our community. We’re proud of the progress so far — and even more excited about what the future holds.

Cal Fire San Benito-Monterey has the largest unmanned aircraft systems program of its kind in the state, in both number of pilots and flight hours.

Vegetation reduction & fire-prevention work will take place Dec 1–3 along Highway 1 near Point Lobos.

⚠️ Traffic Impacts
• One-way reversing traffic control
• Location: Hudson House driveway → Point Lobos entrance
• Time: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
• Expect delays up to 15 minutes

🚨🧟‍♂️ 11th Annual Pebble Beach Zombie Run & Disaster Preparedness Fair! 🧟‍♀️🚨

This year’s event went off without a hitch! Runners of all ages took part in the 10K, 5K, and 2K fun runs through the scenic Pebble Beach fire roads — all while learning about disaster preparedness and community safety.

A huge thank you to all the participants, vendors, and partner agencies who came out to make this another successful event. Your support helps build a stronger, safer, and more prepared community! 💪🔥

🌲🔥 Partnership in Prevention! 🔥🌲

This week, Caltrans, Point Lobos ParkIT, and Carmel Highlands FPD / CAL FIRE partnered to complete a roadside shaded fuel break along Highway 1 and the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.

Originally scheduled for three days, the project was completed in just two days, meeting all objectives — reducing fire risk by removing dead vegetation and ladder fuels, mitigating overhead hazards, and improving walking access for park visitors.

Vegetation management isn’t just about removing fuel; it’s about protecting native plants and promoting a healthy, resilient landscape while reducing wildfire risk. 🌿
