Proudly serving Carlton and surrounding communities since 1881. The Carlton Fire Department, established in 1881, proudly serves communities of Carlton County.

The fire department operates through the dedication of its volunteers. Carlton Fire Deptarment responds to approximately 500 calls annually throughout a 160 square mile immediate response area in addition to automatic dispatch for two other cities when structure fires are reported. The ambulance is staffed 24-7 with Nationally Certified EMT’s. Carlton firefighters and EMTs receive extensive traini

ng in fire suppression, technical rope rescue, swift water rescue, vehicle extrication and all medical situations. The department is complemented by a substantial fleet of state of the art emergency vehicles including a wild land fire truck, 3,000 gallon water tender, 1,250 gallon per minute fire engine, 75’ Ariel truck and two fully equipped ambulances.

🚒🚑❄️ Winter Storm Safety Update ❄️🚑🚒

Today’s snowfall is the heavy, wet kind — and it’s creating hazardous conditions both in driveways and on our roadways.

⚠️ Road conditions remain poor. Many streets are still snow-covered and slippery. If you do not need to travel, please stay home and allow plow crews the space they need to work. Limiting traffic helps keep everyone safer — including emergency responders.

As you dig out today and the rest of the week:

💧 Stay Hydrated – Cold weather can mask dehydration. Drink fluids before, during, and after shoveling.
⏱️ Take Frequent Breaks – Pace yourself and avoid overexertion.
🏋️ Lift Smart – Push snow when possible. Bend at your knees and avoid overloading your shovel.
🧤 Dress for the Conditions – Wear layers and footwear with good traction to prevent slips and falls.
❤️ Know the Warning Signs – Chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, or unusual fatigue are serious. Stop immediately and call 911 if needed.

Wet snow is much heavier than it appears and can place significant strain on your heart and back. Please shovel smart and check on elderly neighbors or those with medical conditions.

Stay off the roads if possible. Stay safe. 🚒🚑❄️

🚶‍♂️🔥 Supporting Firefighter Health – One Step at a Time 🔥🚶‍♂️

This Sunday morning, we had the pleasure of meeting firefighters Doug Foote and Kyle Bode as they passed through on their incredible 150-mile walk to raise awareness and funds for Minnesota firefighter health.

It was an honor to connect with them, hear their stories, and show our support for this important cause. Doug and Kyle are walking with purpose — highlighting the physical and mental health challenges faced by firefighters across our state.

Their journey will wrap up in St. Paul this coming Sunday, and we encourage everyone to follow along, support their mission, and help spread the word. 💪👨‍🚒👨‍🚒

👏 Let’s cheer them on as they continue every step of the way!
