What a great day in Barnum!

Our deputies were proud to assist with traffic control, parade safety, and community events during this year’s Spring Fever Days celebration.

Thank you to everyone who came out, waved, said hello, and helped make the event safe and enjoyable for all. We appreciate the patience of motorists, the support from the community, and everyone who helped make the day a success.

Deputies will continue to patrol the area throughout the remainder of the weekend to help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.

Spring Fever Days in Barnum happening this weekend!

As we prepare for this weekend’s events, motorists should expect increased traffic congestion and extra pedestrian activity throughout the area – especially on Saturday during the parade beginning at 11:00 am.

Deputies from Carlton County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting extra patrols to assist the traffic flow, safety, and event security.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, stay alert for pedestrians, and use patience while traveling through town. And if you see our deputies throughout the event, don’t hesitate to wave or stop and say hi!

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and hope you enjoy a safe and fun weekend!

Got a letter about fingerprints? Let's clear it up.

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office has been sending out letters regarding required fingerprinting.

We are aware some residents may be concerned this is a scam or means they are returning to jail - this is NOT the case.

• These letters are legitimate
• They are part of a routine process

There could be several reasons as to why we didn't complete fingerprints initially. Any questions or to schedule fingerprints call 218-384-9542.

In an emergency, immediate CPR and access to an AED can make all the difference before first responders arrive. We encourage everyone to take the time to learn these lifesaving skills – you never know when you may need them.

Thank you to all first responders, medical personnel, dispatchers, and community members who step up when seconds matter most.

Join the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse!

Do you have a passion for serving your community and working with horses? The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team.

Requirements to Join:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Commit to attending meetings, trainings, and public events
• Required to pass a horse/rider sensory test

Our Mounted Posse plays an important role in supporting the Sheriff’s Office through community events, public engagement, and specialized assistance throughout Carlton County.

This is a unique opportunity to serve the community, represent the Sheriff’s Office, and be a part of a proud tradition of service.

Mounted Posse will be conducting a sensory training on June 3rd, 2026.
