Soul Survivor Outdoor is an active-duty military focused nonprofit using outdoor adventure to build resiliency and spark powerful conversations about identity, purpose and faith from a Christian worldview. SSO events create an environment where service members can relate to others with shared experience and gives them an opportunity for rest and relaxation. Outdoor events increase spiritual fitness and resiliency, and inspire service members to commit to a deeper relationship with Christ.

Today in Colorado over 60 soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment participated in our resiliency and spiritual fitness program, tackling white water rafting with our team and the expert guides from Noah's Ark Whitewater Rafting.

Back on land, the group learned about resiliency and being prepared mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially to face life's challenges. Retired USMC LtCol Craig Lambert shared how his life had gotten off track as a young man, but everything changed when another Marine shared Christ with him. He spoke about how faith in Jesus Christ transformed the trajectory of his life.

He reminded the soldiers that true resilience is not found in our own strength, but in building our lives on the firm foundation of Christ. God created each of us for a relationship with Him, and our identity, purpose, and value are found in Jesus.

Thank you to SGT Tripp Robeson and Chaplain David Wurdeman for coordinating with our team.

Our team is dedicated to the well-being of those who defend our nation. Every outdoor adventure provides an opportunity to give our active duty military a day away from the stressors of their duty station, where they take part in fun and challenging activities that take them out of their comfort zone. Through that shared experience, relationship begins and we are able to have open and honest discussions about God, identity and how having a firm faith foundation helps them to be better prepared for life's challenges.

After a program in Colorado, a U.S. Marine Corps recruiter gave us this feedback: "My experience with Soul Survivors Outdoors [sic] (SSO) was incredibly positive and impactful . . . They go beyond just physical support, also addressing mental and spiritual needs. SSO's dedication to the well-being of service members is truly commendable, making them a valuable resource for those who serve. The team in Colorado Springs were exceptional. They exceeded our Marines expectations."

Today, it was an honor and privilege to attend the 1st Marine Regiment Change of Command ceremony, where Colonel Jason Armas relinquished command of the Regiment to Colonel Jonathan Frerichs. The ceremony was a perfect reminder of the incredible people who serve and protect our country everyday.

Colonel Frerichs has been a friend of Rick Wolf and Soul Survivor Outdoor for many years, and we have had many opportunities to come alongside him and his team in strengthening the resilience and spiritual fitness of the Marines and Sailors serving under his leadership.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Colonel Frerichs as he leads the Regiment over the next two years and carries forward the proud legacy of the "Inchon" Marines.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Colonel Armas for his outstanding leadership and service. We wish him and his family fair winds and following seas as they return to Virginia, where he will continue serving our nation at Headquarters Marine Corps.

It was beautiful weather in Tennessee for the soldiers from the 1-26 Infantry Regiment “Blue Spaders” to zipline through the trees with our team.

During the event, Area Director Richard E Davis spoke on human performance and the importance of developing each domain of readiness as a warfighter, including spiritual readiness. While physical, mental, and social fitness are all essential, spiritual fitness provides the foundation upon which the others are built. Human strength, determination, and resilience can only carry us so far, but a life grounded in Jesus Christ provides an unshakable source of identity, purpose, hope, and perseverance.

When our identity is rooted in Christ, we are better equipped to face adversity, serve others selflessly, and remain steadfast through life's challenges. Faith becomes more than a belief—it becomes the catalyst that shapes how we lead, train, serve our teammates, care for our families, and engage our communities. A relationship with Christ transforms not only who we are, but how we live, inspiring us to pursue excellence today while keeping our eyes fixed on an eternal purpose.

It was an incredible day investing in these soldiers and encouraging them to build their lives on a foundation that will never fail.

Marines from Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton joined our team for day of skydiving last week. They relaxed while getting to know our team and took a behind-the-scenes tour of Skydive Elsinore.

During lunch, the group joined in a spiritual readiness discussion with Rick Wolf. They talked about what resiliency means, how the Marine Corps defines spiritual fitness as inner strength and resilience drawn from a higher purpose, and why the Department of War thinks it is important. He shared that resiliency needs something solid to build on and that Christ is that foundation.

Longtime SSO donor Greg Price, retired U.S. Marine Corps LtCol fighter pilot, added a message on identity, purpose, and value by sharing his own personal journey of not caring about knowing God until when he met his future wife Amy. After proudly sharing with her all the great things he'd accomplished and what he owned, she told him he needed Jesus. That led him to seek out his chaplain on the carrier and ultimately give his life to Christ.

Thank you Bevo Denham for the tour and the entire crew at Skydive Elsinore for going the extra mile to make it a fun time at the drop zone. Shout out to our volunteers Greg and Quinn Price, Reed, and Kendall.

SSO Founder and President Rick Wolf was the guest speaker at a local Christian men's meeting, Band of Brothers, and opened with this statement, "I was asked on a podcast not long ago,'what would I tell my younger self?' Without hesitation I answered take more risks, not stupid careless risks, but faith-filled risks."

He gave them the bottom line up front: Live a bigger life.

Using examples from his own faith journey, including all the doors God opened, and some that he closed, to start SSO, Rick pointed out that each of us has a place in God's plan and, while we may think it's only the extrordinary that make a mark, remember the disciples were all ordinary guys willing to follow Jesus and make a difference.

Rick referred to Teddy Roosevelt's famous Man in the Arena quote:

"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."

God did not create us to sit on the sidelines. Get on the field!
