PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Golf Cart Operation and Juvenile Driver Restrictions

The Carlisle Police Department would like to remind residents of the local ordinances regarding the operation of golf carts and atvs on public roadways.

In accordance with town regulations, individuals 16 years of age and under who do not possess a valid driver’s license are prohibited from operating golf carts or atvs on public streets and roadways.

These restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of both the operator and the general public.

Officers will be actively monitoring compliance with this ordinance. Any individual found in violation will be subject to enforcement action, including the issuance of a citation. Fines will increase with repeated violations and may reach up to $500.00.

Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to ensure that minors understand and follow these regulations. Allowing an unlicensed juvenile to operate a golf cart or atvs on public roadways may result in penalties.

The cooperation of the community is essential in maintaining a safe environment for all residents.

Stay safe. Stay compliant.

Our thoughts and prayers are with BGPD and Officer Elliott’s family tonight. Rest easy brother 🖤💙🖤

A message from Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice:

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that today we lost one of our very own, Officer Brian Elliott. Officer Elliott, along with two other Beech Grove Police Department officers, was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a disturbance. After they arrived, Officer Elliott and another officer were shot. Both officers were rushed to Eskenazi Hospital, but despite the best lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Officer Elliott succumbed to his injuries. The other officer, who we are not naming at this time, is currently in stable condition and is expected to survive.

My heart goes out to Brian’s wife, Erin, his parents, and all of his family, friends, and loved ones. At this time, I am asking that we lean on one another to get through this.

We are grateful to the team at Eskenazi Hospital, and our law enforcement and community partners for their extraordinary response and support."
