A lawsuit filed against the City of Shreveport and its fire department alleges a critical communication breakdown during a 2025 house fire that killed four people, including two children. According to the suit, the victims’ mother told 911 that her children were trapped inside, but that information was not relayed over the radio when crews were dispatched. Instead, firefighters were sent to a “possible house fire” with no mention of occupants. Radio traffic shows it took about 13 minutes after dispatch for anyone to verbally indicate people might be inside. During that time, crews were already operating on scene. The lawsuit claims this delay in communication led to a delayed rescue effort and ultimately contributed to the fatalities, and it is seeking wrongful death damages.
