Having served 2 years in the Army and being discharged due to injury, McPherran recruits men from Huntingdon County, PA and joins them in the 195th in the fall of 1864. This photograph booklet is a companion piece for the Civil War photograph exhibit on display in Ridgway Hall. The majority of the photographs are culled from the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center’s expansive MOLLUS Civil War photo collection. Veterans - Paintings by Nina Talbot: An artist, Ms. Talbot painted images and memories from interviews she held with Veterans about their military service. Sleepless Nights - Korean War Veteran John A. Cook's Midnight Drawings: This artwork exhibit guidebook details Cook's experiences while serving in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War. Later in life, Cook would draw the graphic images from his past to cope with insomnia and PTSD. The Making of an American Army - The World War II Artwork of Frederick Counsel - A G.I. View of Army Life: This exhibit guidebook features the watercolor paintings and drawings of Pennsylvania native Frederick Counsel. A trained artist, Counsel painted murals in mess halls and barracks facilities stateside.
