We had a great turnout, and it was especially awesome to see our future firefighters helping us knock down a blaze and learning how we keep Carlisle safe.

A special shout-out to our friends at Acton Fire for helping to get the Fire Safety House (SAFE trailer) rolling so we could deliver hands-on fire safety education in a fun, memorable — and smoky! — way. 🚒🔥

We had a great all-day training drill today in Carlisle, and we especially appreciated the grace that all the families showed us today as we navigated Church and School Streets - including the well-populated Spaulding Field parking area - with engines and LDH (large diameter hose).

So glad to also have had our CFD Carlisle, Massachusetts Police Department dispatchers show up for a bit, too! We appreciate you all so much!

On Memorial day when we were at the civil war memorial, Chief Flannery reminded us that 100 years ago the store in the center of town burned to the ground.

These photos are from the Carlisle Historical Society Archives. The first picture is of the "Chamberlin and Anderson Store" c 1899 built after the original store burned down in 1879. That store burned to the ground on May 25 1925.

The second picture is of Civil War hero and Carlisle selectman Daniel Robbins "calling the roll" at the civil war monument at the center at Memorial Day 1925. Behind him you can see the pile of rubble where the store used to be. It was after this that the town decided to have a formal Fire Department.

This is why the Fire Department in Carlisle is almost 100 years old!

Sincerest thanks to our partners at Children's Hospital for supporting our department with full-speed emergency pediatric training situations! We ran through several pediatric emergency scenarios and received guidance from Children's Hospital MDs, Caitlin Farrell and Tehnaz Boylen, as a part of our on-going training. We received a grant for a slide in unit to install in the UTV on permanent loan from the state. It has been installed for about a week and was used for the second time today for a brush fire (Lt Lloyd Burke in the photo operating).

Thank you to the MA DCR for the federal surplus UTV and to the MA DCR for the grant through the Department of Agriculture for the brush fire unit.
