Last week our team spent an evening sharpening critical skills through hands-on training designed to prepare us for real-world missions. The team worked through detailed grid searching operations, focusing on communication, coverage, and search techniques to ensure no area is left unchecked during an actual deployment.

In addition to ground operations, our drone team conducted aerial training exercises, practicing coordinated overwatch, area mapping, and locating a lost person from the air.

Trainings like these are essential in building teamwork, confidence, and readiness. We are proud of the dedication shown my every team member who continually volunteer their time to improve their skills and better serve our communities.

K9 Gunner had the opportunity to visit the Cumberland County Department of Public Safety on Friday evening and make some new friends.

I think it's safe to say that he enjoyed all of the scratches and will be back to visit again!

Saturday was a beautiful day on the Newville Rail to Trail for K9 training and would like to thank them for allowing us to utilize the beautiful trail system!

We began with a no scent and worked into a short warm up trail to allow the teams to focus, settle in, and build momentum for the day ahead.

From there, we progressed to a more complex two-mile trail incorporating multiple distractions designed to challenge both handler and K9. These scenarios help strengthen problem solving skills, scent discrimination, and overall teamwork in real-world conditions.

We concluded training with a lineup exercise, reinforcing each K9's ability to accurately identify target scent among multiple subjects.

Days like these not only sharpen our skills, but also highlight the dedication, discipline, and partnership required to be effective in the field. We are very proud of the continued progress from all of the handlers and K9s involved!
