The 4 Minute Community program is a partnership between EMS providers, local government, non-profit organizations, and most importantly engaged members of our community. The goal is to save lives by providing fast response with AED devices to sudden cardiac arrest events in our region. We are proud to say that over two dozen Cumberland County staff members are “Ready Responders” with AED’s in their homes. Our own Asst. 911 Supervisor Steve Overmiller was recognized with the Community Responder Award for responding to over 50% of the incidents he was alerted to in the first quarter of 2026. Good job Steve. Our former Technical Systems Supervisor, Molly Baker, received a Heartsaver Hero Award & Heart Rescue Award for responding to an incident, applying her AED, and delivering a shock to a community member. Awesome work Molly! If you are interested in hearing more about this program, check out https://www.avive.life/4-minute-community/pa

Happening today and later this week!

Next week there will be cannon fire on the installation over the course of several days.

A retirement ceremony is occurring, and an artillery unit will be firing ceremonial rounds (blanks) outside of the special events forum near the East Gate where the ceremony will take place.

There are two practice days: Monday 6/8 and Wednesday 6/10 at 2pm. The ceremony is Thursday 6/11, and between 9am and 10am you can expect to hear 11 volleys of fire.

If you hear a series of loud blasts during these times, there is no cause for concern. The cannon fire is a planned part of the ceremony.
