NOTICE OF 2026 LISTING PERIOD FOR REAL PROPERTY

In accordance with Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 132.220, the listing period for all real property is during the months of January and February. All property owners are asked to report any changes that occurred to their property in 2025. An example of such a change is: built a house, barn, or structure; added to an existing house, barn, or structure; house or other structure burned/destroyed; bought/sold/traded a mobile home; added central heat/air, vinyl siding, new windows, etc. People owning businesses need to report the following as of 1-1-2026: inventory, equipment, manufacturing machinery, accounts receivable, etc. on their business tangible tax return.

Property owners can apply now for the Homestead/Disability exemption for 2026. To qualify, the owner must own and live on the property for the year and be 65 years old or be declared 100% disabled through an approved program.

Please update your mailing address with us if you have moved or changed where you receive your mail so tax bills and other correspondence from the PVA office gets to the property owner. If your yearly property taxes are paid by an escrow company, it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to make sure they have your correct assessment information if you have changes to your property or add the Homestead Exemption.

To report your property changes for 2026, or if you have any questions about your property, exemptions or their qualifications, please call 859-289-3735 or stop by the PVA office. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30. If these times are inconvenient, please call and we can schedule an appointment that is convenient for you. The office is located in the basement of the courthouse.
