Some members of the Nevada Gold Mines team spent a morning in our community this week. They held their most recent community meeting at the Carlin Open Door Seniors' Center on Thursday. Carlin residents and guests learned about their overall progress and projections in Carlin and throughout Nevada. As you know...Nevada is the top gold-producing state in the country, accounting for over 70% of the nation's total output.

FY2027 Property Tax – 2nd Installment Due October 5, 2026
The 2nd installment of FY2027 property taxes is due October 5, 2026, with a 10-day grace period. Pursuant to NRS 361.483, a penalty will apply to delinquent property taxes that are not paid when due.

Lockbox Processing for Mailed Payments
The Elko County Treasurer’s Office has implemented a secure lockbox processing service through the County’s financial institution to provide more efficient and timely processing of mailed check payments.

Payments may be made through your financial institution’s online bill-pay system. Please be sure to include your property account or parcel number.

Secured entrance of the Elko County Courthouse
4. Pay in person
Visit the Elko County Treasurer’s Office, Suite 101 of the Elko County Courthouse.
Office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

In continuation of the theme of Stronger Together, Safer Tomorrow, the Nevada Department of Forestry held a Wildland Fire Preparedness Community Town Hall. The main points of discussion were the changes in homeowners’ insurance and tactics to protect your home. We can all become more resilient from wildfires and other natural disasters in our community.

In a partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Nevada Outdoor School nature enthusiasts in Carlin learned more about our local bats in flight and their echolocation with bat detectors. Guests were able to talk all things bats and then hear what they sound like in our community. The educator from the Department of Wildlife shared pictures and even skeletons of the bats which live around us in Carlin.

Karen Carr-Brian was recognized this week by the Carlin City Council for her over 25 years of service. Karen has been an invaluable part to our city and residents for decades. Her innovations, care and positivity have been felt by many over the years. We are grateful for Karen's service and dedication to our Carlin residents and city leadership. Thank you, Karen!

Due to windy weather conditions the bat walk has been converted to a bat chat and has been relocated to the Municipal Court at 101 S 8th Street. Hope to see you there!

📍 Carlin residents can register to vote in person at the Carlin Administration Office, located at 151 S 8th Street.
