Good Morning!

Showers are gradually moving through north areas, with clearing later today. This will lead to cooling behind the front bringing low temps tonight into the 30s across the North with the potential for frost development in particularly low-lying areas. Protect any sensitive vegetation.

The rest of the week should be dry and seasonable before the next chance of rain mid to late week. A frontal boundary moves through the area Thursday bringing some showers, though little to no drought relief is expected.

Good afternoon!

Rain showers will continue this afternoon and through the overnight hours. During this time, an isolated rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, particularly in the North Woods. Showers will slowly taper off Downeast and across Bangor early Monday morning but linger in the Northern Areas into the early afternoon.

Another chance for patchy frost is expected Monday night in Northern Areas where clear skies and calm winds continue to promote strong radiational cooling. Frost will be more likely in the typical low lying areas. Otherwise, patchy river fog is also expected across the region Monday night.

Nice conditions return on Tuesday with seasonable temperatures and sunny skies. Clouds will begin to move in Wednesday afternoon but won't limit above average high temperatures. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s across the region. The next chance for rain is Thursday.

Good Morning!

Rain showers will move in this morning and could last through Monday morning. Showers will first develop over southern Maine before moving offshore this evening as a cold front approaches from the north bringing another round of showers. These showers will generally be light, though there could be a rumble of thunder across the north. Expected rainfall is around 0.3 inches for Downeast and less north. This rain will only bring very minimal drought relief. As the cold front passes through Monday, skies clear and temperatures cool. Low temperatures Monday night could dip into the low to mid 30s across northern areas bringing a chance of frost, particularly in low lying locations. Cover or bring inside any sensitive plants. The Frost/Freeze program for the North Woods has ended so frost/freeze headlines will not be issued for this area until springtime. The next chance of rain is late week.

Conditions this afternoon remain pleasant with sunny skies and temperatures currently in the upper 60s to low 70s. Beginning early tomorrow, rain showers will enter the region and persist through Monday morning. Higher amounts are likely Downeast and across far Northern Maine with totals up to 0.3 inches. However, any drought relief will remain negligible.

Monday night sees the next chance for frost across Northern Maine. With temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, clear skies, and calm winds, radiational cooling will allow for the formation of frost across Northern Areas, particularly in low lying locations. Cover or bring inside any sensitive vegetation. Additionally, the calm winds and clear skies allow for the chance of valley fog across the region during this time. Sunny skies will return on Tuesday.

Good Morning!

Today will feature abundant sunshine with seasonably mild temperatures. Highs should range from the mid-upper 60s near the coast, to the middle 70s across most of the interior.

An approaching cold front will trigger some rain showers from late Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning. Locally heavy rainfall is possible, with the heaviest rain over far NW Maine and near the coast, but not enough to impact the drought.

Good afternoon!

A frost advisory is in effect across Northern areas tonight as temperatures drop into the mid to upper 30s with light winds and clear skies. Frost formation is possible, particularly in colder low lying areas. Make sure to cover any sensitive outdoor vegetation. Seasonable temperatures and sunny skies are on tap for Saturday.

Rain is expected on Sunday, beginning in the afternoon and persisting through Monday morning. Higher rain fall totals are expected across the North Woods and St John Valley where rain fall totals up to 0.8 inches are expected with lower amounts expected across the Bangor Region and Downeast. However, little if any drought relief is expected.

Yet another day with gusty winds today, with wind gusts of 25-35 mph, except 15-25 mph over eastern Downeast Maine.

A passing cold front will likely bring a wetting rain across the North from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, with a chance of rain elsewhere. While the rain could be locally heavy at times, it is not expected to make a dent in the ongoing drought.

Good afternoon!

Elevated winds with gusts up to 35 MPH will persist into this evening. Wet soils, associated with Wednesday night's rain, and leaves on trees might result in isolated power outages and tree damage. Winds will subside slightly through the overnight hours before returning on Friday, finally diminishing Friday evening. The strongest wind gusts, up to 35 MPH, are are expected across Central Aroostook and the St. John Valley on Friday. Sunny skies and seasonable temperatures are expected on Saturday ahead of the next chance of rain on Sunday.
