Carencro is getting ready to serve up something special.

This October, the City of Carencro is launching Taste the Cro, a month-long campaign showcasing locally owned restaurants throughout our city.

Participating restaurants will create a Taste the Cro Special for October and receive promotion through the City of Carencro website, social media, and campaign marketing.

Your kid needs to burn off energy. You need five minutes of adult conversation. Neither of you needs the heat of the afternoon. The Mommy & Me Walk solves all three, every Tuesday at 5:30pm.

Bring the stroller. Bring the questions about teething, tantrums, or that thing your toddler won't stop doing. Someone here has the answer, or at least the company while you figure it out.

Every big decision this city makes eventually affects the students who live here. The Carencro Youth Council is where that goes both ways: a chance for high schoolers to sit at the table, not just hear about decisions after they're made.

Youth Council members work directly alongside city leaders, take part in real community projects and events, and bring the perspective only a student actually living here can offer. It's leadership experience you can't get from a classroom alone, and a real say in where this city goes next.

Not everything you think can be recycled actually belongs in the bin, and knowing the difference is what makes the whole system work. Here's what can be recycled:
Accepted: plastics #1 through #7, aluminum, tin, and steel.
Not accepted: food waste, wood, Styrofoam, grocery bags, and electronics.

When in doubt, leave it out. One wrong item can spoil an otherwise good load.

Recycle bins are collected once a week. Questions about your bin or your service? Call Pelican Waste at (337) 907-6686.

Phase I-C is still in the groundwork stage, where the city has spent recent weeks securing the servitudes needed before any construction can begin. It's slow, careful work, more paperwork than progress you can see, but it's what clears the way for crews to move in later without delay. That work continues in the weeks ahead, with construction expected to go out for bid in early 2027.

Some phases move fast. Others move right, one signature at a time. C'est Carencro.
