As the primary wraps up, here’s a huge shout-out to our incredible campaign staff, dedicated volunteers, and supporters.

We worked tirelessly in rain, snow, freezing cold and warm days. In true Southern Illinois fashion, sometimes all in the same week.

Because of your efforts, Heather was able to meet voters at their doors across Jackson County. From front porches in Carbondale to small towns and rural roads those conversations were meaningful. Hearing people’s stories, concerns, and hopes for their community is what this campaign has always been about.

It has been a privilege to spend these past months knocking on doors, shaking hands, and getting to know so many people across Jackson County.

No matter what tomorrow brings, we are incredibly grateful for the support, encouragement, and kindness shown throughout this campaign.

In 1990, the First Judicial Circuit appointed its first woman to the bench in Jackson County. Since then, women have continued to serve our community with dedication and integrity.

There is one open judicial seat in Jackson County. Four men and one woman currently serve as judges in Jackson County. There are two men and Heather running to fill the open judicial seat in the democratic primary.

Heather Heaslett is proud to be part of the next generation of women serving in the law.

Throughout her career, Heather has worked as a prosecutor, in private practice, and in appellate law reviewing circuit court decisions. Her experience has prepared her for the responsibility of serving as Resident Circuit Judge.

We aren’t asking for your vote because Heather is a woman, but because she is the most qualified candidate and happens to be a woman.

Early voting is underway and Election Day is March 17.

Heather Heaslett has built a diverse legal career, working as a prosecutor, in private practice, and through years of appellate work.

When someone believes an error occurred in their case, they can file an appeal. That starts a careful review of the trial record, the evidence, and the judge’s rulings to determine whether the law was applied correctly.

Heather has spent years helping appellate court justices review those claims, studying trial records, analyzing legal arguments, and reviewing circuit court decisions.

That kind of experience requires a deep understanding of how trials should be conducted and how the law should be applied. Those are the same skills required of a Resident Circuit Judge.

Jackson County deserves a judge like Heather who is ready on day one.

Early voting is underway.

Vote Heather Heaslett for judge on or before March 17th.

Murphysboro Middle School holds a lot of meaning for Heather Heaslett and her family.

Heather attended middle school here and her mother, Mrs. Heaslett, spent her career in this school teaching Spanish before retiring. Like so many families in Jackson County, their lives are rooted in the same classrooms and neighborhoods that shape who we are.

Those roots matter. They shape the values of fairness, responsibility, and service that Heather brings to her work every day.

Jackson County deserves a judge who understands this community and is ready to serve on day one.

Today is International Day of Women Judges.

Judge Kimberly Dahlen was the first female judge appointed in 1990 to the First Judicial Circuit in Illinois. She opened doors for future generations of women in the law and on the bench.

Heather Heaslett is proud to follow in the footsteps of those who helped pave the way and is committed to serving this community with fairness, integrity, and respect for the law.
