It is with a heavy heart we report the loss of one of our colleagues tonight. Paramedic 103, Ron Tezzano, one of the original paramedics in Lackawanna County, staffing the first advanced life support unit based at Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was a life long team member of Cottage Hose Ambulance and will leave a void in our hearts, minds and the communities he served over his career.
Paramedic Tezzano touched many lives throughout his tour of duty. He was not just a caregiver, he was a teacher, leader, mentor and beacon others followed if they wanted to make a difference in the EMS, fire and rescue arena. He lead from the front and by example. He was the voice of calmness among the chaos frequently seen at scenes that even movie makers could not make up. His guidance and clear direction reassured you that no matter how bad a situation was, you were going to get through it, and those you were helping were being given the best chance of survival or healing possible. His steady voice, even under stress, put reassurance in those he worked with. His sometimes dry humor, when you least expected it, was a great stress relief during what seemed like a very tense moment.
This author owes his professional career decision to him, I only mention it as an example of how he helped so many people be the best they could be. His advise and encouragement was always respected by those he encountered.
He will not only be missed by those close to him, but by those he impacted by his involvement in their lives. He touched many lives from providing care as a paramedic to those who may have just had the privilege of being in his presence while performing his many talents in the EMS, fire, rescue situations.
Paramedic 103 βRonnyβ Tezzano, your tour of duty has come to end. We will take it from here. We will do our best to follow your example. Rest easy. We hope his family takes comfort in knowing his examples will live on through all he touched. βRonnyβ is very much a part of the EMS, fire and rescue service in northeast Pa.
