On June 17, 2026, officers of the Capitol Heights Police Department were conducting routine patrol in the area of Mentor Avenue, Capitol Heights, Maryland, when they observed a vehicle that was illegally parked in violation of local traffic regulations.
While officers were in the process of impounding the vehicle, the registered owner approached the scene and requested permission to retrieve personal belongings from inside the vehicle. Officers denied the request due to officer safety concerns and to preserve the integrity of the impound process.
During a subsequent inventory search of the vehicle, officers discovered a Draco-style rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, an extended magazine, an additional rifle magazine, a digital scale, and a large quantity of suspected ma*****na packaged in both bulk form and multiple containers. The items were located and recovered from within the vehicle during the inventory search.
Based on the discovery of the fi****ms, ammunition, suspected controlled dangerous substances (CDS), and related paraphernalia, the owner of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody without incident. All evidence was photographed, secured, and submitted in accordance with department procedures. The suspect was transported for processing and charged accordingly.
