Our house was highlighted in the Cape Vincent, NY and its History page. 💜. I am here to say we have not abandoned the property! We are not looking to sell, and we do not want to let it decay any further! We worked on the house the first year we purchased it from the County Tax Auction. Last summer, honestly, I'm not sure where the summer went. We live in Rochester, which is a three-hour drive. We come up on weekends and spend a week's vacation after French Fest. It does not give us a lot of time to work on the house. We cannot proceed with any work on the house until we fix the foundation of the home. It is in bad shape. We added some blocking and jacks to support some critical areas, but it needs major leveling and foundation work. We hope to begin the work in the spring. My husband and sons work for a construction company. We have materials stockpiled in Rochester that need to be brought up to the Cape. That means coordinating the use of commercial trailers and equipment. We promise it will get done! Our dream is that we will be retired in the next 3-5 years and have a place to call home. We know this house has a rich history. Unfortunately, all that history has already been ripped out. We are going to try and reimagine a new history for the house. The auctioneer who handled the tax auction was the same one who handled the original auction in the 80’s. I am attaching the brochure that was used to promote the sale in 1987. I will be posting our progress on this page, so stay tuned for updates beginning this spring.
