Happy 87th Anniversary to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary! ⚓️🇺🇸
Today, Flotilla 8-6 joins the entire nation in celebrating 87 years of service, dedication, and commitment to our maritime communities.
Since 1939, Auxiliarists have answered the call to duty, volunteering their time, talents, and skills to support the U.S. Coast Guard and keep our local waters safe right here in Lower Township and Cape May. For nearly nine decades, this incredible organization has been a vital force multiplier, advancing maritime safety and security through:
📚 Public Education & Boating Safety
📋 Vessel Safety Checks
📞 Marine Communications
🚤 Search and Rescue & Emergency Response
🍽️ Culinary Services & Chaplaincy
🌊 Marine Environmental Protection
To our local crew members: your service represents volunteerism at its absolute best. You bring professionalism without the expectation of recognition, readiness whenever needed, and a deep commitment to our neighbors, mariners, and country.
As we mark this major milestone, we look ahead with pride and purpose. Thank you to everyone who has worn the uniform and supported our mission. Here’s to many more generations of being Semper Paratus!

🚁⚓️ ARE YOU READY TO ANSWER THE CALL? ⚓️🚁
We see this kind of action in the headlines and think, "What a dynamic mission!" But it takes an incredible team behind that mission to make it successful. That team includes the dedicated volunteers of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary Lower Township (Flotilla 053-08-06) is actively recruiting new members! Whether you are a master mariner, a logistics expert, an instructor, or simply have a heart for community service, we have a role for you. No previous military experience is required.
The image shows a hoist from a container ship—a crucial and demanding task. What is your next demanding task? How will you serve your community and country?
What we provide:
✅ Advanced, nationally recognized training.
✅ The opportunity to assist the U.S. Coast Guard with non-military missions like Public Education, Vessel Exams, Safety Patrols, and administrative support.
✅ Incredible camaraderie and a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself.
Ready to make a real impact on boating safety and support our active-duty shipmates?

What a great night at the Coast Guard Salute! ⚓️🇺🇸
A huge thank you to for keeping this incredible event on your roster year after year. We loved coming together to honor our Coasties and all who serve. Between the great company, amazing food, cold beer, and a fantastic host, it was a night to remember! We are beyond grateful for your continued commitment to our Coast Guard family and our mission.
A special shoutout to our very own Flotilla Commander, Buddy Stewart, and Diane Kelly! Their generosity provided $100 in MudHen gift cards, making sure 10 active-duty Coast Guard members could enjoy a well-deserved beer. 🍻
We also want to send a massive thank you to local business We Make it Personal for their beautiful donation of The Water Tower cutting board!

Flotilla 8-6 had an incredible time this week at the Superheroes Meet & Greet Festival! We want to send a huge "Thank You" to the Beachcomber Camping Resort for hosting such a wonderful family event and inviting us to participate.
Our members loved meeting the community, chatting with the kids, and sharing crucial boating safety tips to help everyone prepare for the upcoming season. It was an honor to stand alongside other Cape May County local heroes (including police, fire, and K9 units!) to celebrate our service. We are already looking forward to next year!

⚓️🇺🇸 Congratulations to the newest members of the U.S. Coast Guard family!
Yesterday, our very own Vice Flotilla Commander, Joe Murphy, was honored to be among the presenters at the TRACEN Cape May graduation for the recruits of Quebec 208 Company.
Joe had the privilege of presenting the prestigious Seamanship Award, which recognizes the recruit who demonstrated the highest proficiency in nautical skills, knot-tying, and boat handling—the core fundamentals of our service! 🛥️
We are incredibly proud to have Flotilla 8-6 represented at such a momentous event. Supporting the training center and welcoming these new Coast Guardsmen is a highlight for us.
Fair winds and following seas to Quebec 208! Semper Paratus!
