Serving Veterans in southeast Missouri, the Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau opened its doors in 1990. On Friday our Cape Girardeau Veterans Home Foundation held their 29th Annual Veterans Home Golf Tournament at Bent Creek Golf Course. They had a great turnout with 28 teams participating. Congratulations to our August employee of the month, Rachel Sinn. Rachel is our timekeeper, she is the one that keeps all the employees hours, pay, leave time, and call ins in order. She jumped into this role a few months ago feet first and hasn't looked back. She is a hard worker and fantastic problem solver who goes out of her way to make sure that everyone is taken care of. Our recreation department decided to take advantage of their excursion to Branson for the Missouri Health Care Association pageant to take a few of our Veterans on a little mini vacation to cheer on our Veteran who was competing. 5 other Veterans traveled to Branson and enjoyed delicious BBQ, the Dolly Parton Stampede, the Branson Landing, and Joe's Crab Shack. Thank you to our Cape Girardeau Veterans Home Foundation for absorbing the cost of this trip so our Veterans didn't have to pay a dime and thank you to our hard working recreation department for planning and implementing such a fun trip.
