June is National Safety Month and the focus for this week was Staying Safe on the Roads. We thought we would take this opportunity to highlight some of the hazards, distractions, and dangers your Cape Coral firefighters have encountered on the roads in just the past two weeks. These have included: a turtle crossing the street, a cat trapped in an engine compartment, traffic crashes, and both a car and motorcycle fire.

These incidents serve as a reminder that the unexpected can happen at any time. Whether you’re driving, riding, or walking, always stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

Help keep our roads safe by obeying traffic laws, avoiding distractions, wearing your seatbelt, ensuring car seats are properly installed, and keeping your vehicle well maintained.

Engine 8 and Fire Safety Educator Andrea joined our friends at the Northwest Regional Library for Storytime with Community Helpers! 📚🚒

Alongside Sparky, they read No Dragons for Tea, a fun story that teaches kids important fire safety lessons after a dragon accidentally starts a fire at a tea party. Our friends at Cape Coral Police also joined in for storytime! Thanks to everyone who joined us for a great morning of learning and fun! 👨‍🚒

UPDATE: Cape Coral firefighters were able to find his owners and return him this morning (Thursday)

Cape Coral firefighters rescued this good boy from a canal near the 2900 block of SE 5th Ave. earlier this evening. They were unable to find his owners so they brought him back to the station where Lee County EMS crews treated his cut paw. If this is your dog or if you know this dog, he is waiting to be reunited with his family at Fire Station 4, located at 2007 Santa Barbara Blvd. Please help us get him home!

Good morning, Cape Coral!

If you’re in North Cape and notice smoke in the Hudson Creek area near Chiquita Blvd. and Jacaranda Pkwy., there’s no cause for alarm. The smoke is from a controlled burn that has been authorized by the Florida Forest Service.

We appreciate our community’s vigilance and encourage everyone to stay aware of their surroundings, but there is no need to call 9-1-1 regarding this smoke.

Thank you for helping us keep emergency lines available for those who need them most.

🚨 In May, your Cape Coral firefighters responded to 2,641 calls and presented three residents with a Community Recognition Coin for their actions which had a meaningful impact on the City of Cape Coral.

We also recognized Hurricane Preparedness Week, our incredible CCFD mothers on Mother’s Day, our public safety partners during Police Week and EMS Week, Water Safety Month, and Do Something Good for Your Neighbor Day.

We welcomed new Ladder 1 and rescinded burn ban that had been in effect since January 2nd.

We honored those we lost while serving in the Armed Forces by displaying an American flag on Memorial Day and remembered the line of duty deaths of Captain Frank Smith and Engineer Michael Camelo Jr. We also mourned the passing of Retired Fire Chief Donald Cochran.
