I had the honor of attending the winter reception of the 2nd Aircraft Wing last week at Cherry Point and had the privilege to meet some of these awesome Americans that serve this great nation. God speed to them all.

The commander of U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) has directed all installations to implement heightened security measures at all entry gates until further notice. These measures include but are not limited to100% ID checks, random vehicle inspections, and the suspension of the Trusted Traveler Program until further notice.

The Trusted Traveler Program previously allowed DoD-affiliated sponsors to vouch for vehicle occupants for installation access. At this time, all unvetted visitors must report to the installation visitor center (Pass & ID) to request access.

Drivers should plan for delays, as well as possible random inspections at all access control points and gates. These enhanced security measures are being implemented to safeguard our service members, civilians, and families, while ensuring our continued ability to generate and project combat power at the time and place of our Nation’s choosing.

Just fyi, This is mainly a formality during a storm like this. We have no plans or desire to enact any curfews or anything of that nature.
I Hope everyone stays home and keeps warm!!! Lets let the kids have the streets and enjoy it!

Well it looks like we have the possibility, of the probability that there may be a chance of snow this weekend. It may even be a 2 loaf alert!!!
On a serious note, please stay home if the roads do get messy, our town does not have snow plows and we will not be out scraping roads. We will have staff and equipment at town hall to make sure it and the police department are accessible. Please check on your neighbors, especially any elderly you may know of, if you think anyone needs assistance you can call our Non-Emergency 252-393-2183, if a true emergency please call 911. The best thing is to stay calm, stay informed, and stay home if you can!!!!

I would like to wish all the citizens and staff of Cape Carteret a Very Merry Christmas!! Our town has had another great year, and we are so blessed to have such a wonderful staff that does an amazing job making Cape Carteret the Best Little Town on The Sound! I hope our police and first responders that are working during Christmas have very quiet shifts, and everyone stays safe.

I had the honor to tour Cherry Point today, and was so impressed with how professional and friendly the staff were. I was also very impressed with the presentation they gave about the infrastructure and plans for the future. While there I saw a few of my neighbors and people who live in Cape Carteret who work there. The impact this base has on our town and community is enormous and we should all be grateful to live in what i consider the greatest and safest part of the country thanks to this awesome base. and those who serve this great nation.
