Wonderful evening honoring our local heroes! Thank you to the 100 Club of Comal County for hosting such a meaningful event.

It was an extra special night for our team. What a joy to see our own Battalion Chief Justin Lowth and his wife Meredith beaming with pride as their daughter Katelyn was awarded one of the three scholarships tonight.

Congratulations, Katelyn! Your fire family is so very proud of you 🚒❤️🚑!

Icy travel conditions continue this morning. Areas to watch for include elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses, but also locations where standing water puddles have refrozen over. Your driveway and porch might be just as bad, so please be careful even simply stepping outside. Temperatures aren’t predicted to go above freezing until noon today.

Here’s what to expect tonight:

- Freezing Temperatures: Overnight lows between 8°F and 15°F for most areas. The Hill Country will see the coldest temperatures.

- Dangerous Wind Chills: Gusty winds will make it feel much colder. Wind chills will drop between -5°F and 0°F across the Hill Country and southern Edwards Plateau, with single digits elsewhere.

Please minimize time outdoors. Ensure pets are inside, plants and pipes are insulated, and check on your neighbors.

Morning Road Conditions Update for Comal County:
The National Weather Service tells us wintry precipitation is moving out of our area!
Our Road Department crews are still out surveying roadways and reporting that there is still a lot of ice and slush on many roads.
🚦 Traffic lights are currently out at FM 46 and FM 3159. Please treat this intersection as a four way stop.
🚧 Current road closures:
• Steep Hill at The Summit
• Skyline Drive
Our teams are continuing to inspect roads and will share updates if additional closures are needed. You can also visit www.comalcounty.gov and click on News for a list of road closures.
Even though the precipitation is ending, icy conditions remain and travel is still hazardous, especially on hills, bridges, and shaded areas.
We are still under an Ice Storm Warning until noon today.
We know we are sharing a lot of information, and we are doing that because your safety truly matters and it is our top priority during this storm. If you can stay off the roadways, please do. If you must travel, slow down and use extreme caution.

11 PM - Jan 24: Rounds of freezing rain and sleet will continue to move across the region into the overnight hours. The back edge of the precipitation is expected to clear east of the area around 6 AM. The amount of sleet is cutting down on the potential for higher ice accumulations on trees and powerlines. Nevertheless, the freezing rain and sleet WILL continue to result in dangerous travel impacts. Do not travel unless necessary!

Winter Storm Watch Alert for our area starting late Friday night and continuing into Sunday morning. This means we could see some ice and sleet, along with very cold temperatures, especially overnight this weekend.

You still have time to:
• Plan ahead if you need to travel during this time
• Bring your pets inside
• Run to Brookshire Brothers or Lowe's for those groceries now
• Cover outdoor pipes and know where your water shutoff is
• Check on neighbors and see if they need extra help to prep

We'll be ready but hoping everyone stays warm and indoors 😀

We have experienced significant growth in our community as well as within our department, our team consists of 90 Operations and 7 Administrative Personnel. With that growth, of course, there has been growing pains and ultimately the need for a facility for Training and Administrative Offices, to support our dedicated first responders and the citizens. This project represents our unwavering commitment to building a safer, stronger Canyon Lake community. By providing our fire leadership with the technology and space they need, we are ensuring tighter collaboration in emergency planning to protect lives and property as we continue to grow.

This facility is a testament to what we can achieve when we prioritize public service and the well-being of those who protect us. This facility was developed over the last several years through strategic planning and conservative financial management. We are grateful to our citizens for your steadfast support of our department. We would like to thank ESD 3 Commissioners (past/present) for your stewardship of our resident's tax dollars in order to make this facility a reality for the community. We also extend our thanks and appreciation to our project partners Frontera Construction, Martinez Architects and Rosborough Project Management.
