This award recognizes agencies demonstrating superior financial management and excellence in financial operations, and it is a tremendous reflection of the professionalism, dedication, and hard work happening right here in Escambia County.

Public service is about more than collecting taxes and issuing licenses and titles. It’s about being good stewards of the public’s trust and making sure every dollar and every responsibility is handled with accountability and integrity.

Scott has built a team that takes that responsibility seriously, and this statewide recognition is well deserved.

On September 11, 2001, thousands of brave men and women answered that call. Many walked into buildings while others were desperately trying to escape them. They climbed stairs knowing the danger was real, because someone needed help.

Some came home.

Some never did.

And that is the sacrifice we must never forget.

Behind every badge, every uniform, every helmet, there is a person who has a family, people who love them, and a life they could have chosen to protect.

But they chose to protect ours.

Today, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice—not only on 9/11, but every first responder who has ever given their life in service to another.

We remember.
We honor.
We will never forget.

I had a great time stopping by the Escambia County Vendor Open House this week! It was wonderful to see local businesses connecting directly with Escambia County, Apex Accelerator, and the Gulf Coast Minority Chamber of Commerce to learn more about opportunities to do business with our county.

Supporting our local small businesses means strengthening our economy, creating jobs, and keeping more of our dollars right here in Northwest Florida. Thank you to everyone who helped put this valuable event together!

I had a wonderful time attending the ReadyKids! Annual Breakfast last week! It was great to come together with community leaders and partners who are committed to supporting our children and families.

I’m especially proud that my staffer, Sarah Caver, is part of the ReadyKids! ReadingPals program, giving her time to help encourage young readers and support their success.

Thank you to ReadyKids! and all of the volunteers, partners, and supporters who continue investing in the next generation and making a difference in our community!
