“Let’s thank our Chairman, Dimitrios Pousoulides, for the creation of the Volunteer Appreciation Event. Dimitrios created this event when he first became chair 2 years ago. It is not a fundraiser. It is an event for our volunteers to enjoy food and friendship. This year we will have several statewide candidates that you can meet and hear from. We hope to see you all on March 4th. Please RSVP for this event. Thank you, Chairman, for this event recognizing our wonderful volunteers. Humbly, Cari McDermott.”

Dear Fellow Democrat,
We are planning our 2026 coordinated campaign where our local Democratic party will work closely with our state party for a successful November election. We are already working with the Sherrod Brown campaign for Senate and the Amy Acton campaign for Governor to facilitate a joint effort to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
We will have our yearly Volunteer Appreciation Event on March 4th at the Ironworkers Local 550. The event flyer follows this message. The event will recognize our volunteers and all their hard work. This is not a fundraiser. We will provide food and beverages. The following statewide candidates have agreed to attend and speak: John Kulewicz for Attorney General; Bryan Hambley for Secretary of State; and Allison Russo for Secretary of State. This will be a great opportunity to meet our statewide candidates on a one-on-one basis and enjoy fellowship with our fellow Democrats.
We will also announce opportunities for our volunteers on how they may best assist our statewide and local ticket for a successful November campaign. You have heard me discuss the effectiveness of door-to-door canvassing. It is not glamorous. It is hard work. Yes, we will have other opportunities, such as making phone calls at phone banks, putting up yard signs and filling out postcards. But the data unequivocally shows that door-to-door canvassing is the most effective method to get our message out.
To that end, I am pleased to announce that Karen Dhyanchand has agreed to take the lead in coordinating these efforts. Karen will be the Coordinator of Democratic Citizen Engagement which will encompass canvassing and additional outreach. It will include getting our local Democrats more involved in the community whether through joining local organizations, attending public meetings, hosting house parties, or working at a Democratic booth at fairs and festivals. It will also include training all democrats to understand their entire ballot and be confident to speak about our fine candidates, whether in private one on one situations or while participating in a door-to-door canvass. We will have training sessions for all our volunteers in the coming months, so we are prepared to coordinate our efforts with the Ohio Democratic Party. We will need well-trained "worker bees" for all candidates to prepare us for the fall campaign. Starting early in the spring is a great way to "get your feet wet" before the intensity of midterm elections occur this autumn.
I strongly urge you to consider being part of our team.
