Salute to First Responders 🚨 Steven Johnson
Assistant Police Chief, Canton Police Department
🚨Why did you decide to be a policeman?
I was deployed oversees in the National Guard, and after I came back, I just knew I wanted to pursue a career as a policeman. I’ve always wanted to protect people.
🚨How long have you been with the Canton Police Department?
I started my career with the Canton Police Department. This March I began my 23rd year on the force.
🚨Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my chief Otha Brown. He was the first chief at Canton Police Department. He went to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, worked his was up to being Supervisor, then came back to Canton PD as Chief. I admire his determination and drive the most. The way he helps our community and keeping crime down, I look up to him.
🚨What is your favorite thing about Madison County?
We all have a sense of purpose in Madison County. I think we understand that we all need each other, and we are trying to provide a better place for us, our children, and for their children. We know what needs to be done and we are trying to make it a better place. So our children have something to look forward to in the future.
