Ready to Ride?

Join us for the Off-Road Run at Appalachian Gun Mountain Trails. Enjoy a day ride or night ride or both on these beautiful trails! Stock and beginner friendly!

Come out to enjoy trail rides, food trucks, raffles, vendors and more! Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with a costume or fall theme. There will be a Halloween costume contest for kids under 12, too!

All proceeds benefit the mission of The Children's Haven.

This morning we are so glad to congratulate another graduating class of Court Appointed Special Advocates! These specially trained CASA volunteers will build relationships with and advocate in court for Cherokee County children experiencing foster care. ♥️💙 Big thanks to Judge Richard Jones and Judge Amanda Speights for swearing in this round of difference-makers last night! And here’s a hearty shout out to P.O.P.S. for providing a celebratory dinner including pasta, salad, and garlic bread for our volunteers! 🍝 If you are interested in learning more about serving as a CASA, our next training begins Oct. 20! We’re adding to our team! Family Support Specialists monitor supervised family visitations and provide parent coaching, resources and support to parents in our program. One phone call can change a life. 💚 Earlier this summer, Wren’s Collision Center of Canton made that phone call to The Children’s Haven. They were part of a national program that gives refurbished cars away to single parents in need, and they wanted to partner with The Children’s Haven to give a car to a local mom. Through the NABC Recycled Rides program, generosity from Travelers, and repair work donated by WREN’S COLLISION GROUP in Canton, a dream for reliable transportation came true!

Katrina Watkins is a graduate of our Positive Childhood Alliance (PCA) Cherokee program where she completed six months of parenting education, gained connections to community resources, and received support to get through a hard season. We’re so proud of her. We’re so proud of how hard she works to care for her two children and her younger sister. She’s relied on Uber, Lyft, and friends to get her to and from work everyday for three years. This beautiful 2023 Honda HRV Sport will be such an incredible gift for her family now! Enterprise presented Katrina with a $500 gift card to Amazon to help fill more wish lists for her family! She was also gifted $200 for gas. Other surprises like a dash camera to see her kids in the backseat, new car seats, car care items, and gifts for the kids were kindly tucked away in the trunk. This community came together in a really powerful way and that’s something big to celebrate! Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Katrina yesterday. It was truly so special. 💚

CANTON — A Cherokee County mother received a vehicle Thursday, ensuring she will now have transportation for herself and her kids.

The Children’s Haven doesn’t just support the kids. Through visitation services, the organization is impacting parents and caregivers too.

“Reunification [of children with biological parents] is always the goal until it’s not. Without a safe space to visit and caring individuals trained to support families in the very best ways, it’s hard to get an accurate picture of how the parent might actually parent or the struggles they might have,” Executive Director Marcie Smith shared.

Within the walls of the Wellstar Family Visitation Center, moms working hard to bring their children home aren’t missing their child’s first steps. Parents working together toward recovery can celebrate their child’s milestones in person, instead of from afar.

“One little girl was visiting for her birthday, and the family brought in a unicorn balloon and all the fun stuff you would do at your house,” Michelle Meek, director of community engagement, said.

“Her story is so cool because there were around eight nonprofits and churches that touched the lives of that family. This community of people, our CASA program and our Wellstar Family Visitation program came alongside them, and now they have their daughter back.”

When you think, “Someone should do something…” THESE are the someones. Specially trained to advocate for youth experiencing foster care, our CASA Cherokee Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers and their support team are spending their Saturday learning skills to advocate more diligently and effectively to help create better outcomes for children and families. Thanks for another meaningful Georgia CASA Conference, Georgia CASA ! And thank you to all our volunteers for their dedication to this impactful work.
