BREAKING: Rep. Joyce Beatty takes Trump to court over the Kennedy Center and wins

If you stand with Joyce Beatty, you're our kind of person. Join our community. Rep. Joyce Beatty sued Donald Trump over his illegal renaming of the Kennedy Center, and a federal judge just ruled in her favor, ordering Trump's name removed from the historic venue within 14 days.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the Kennedy Center cannot be renamed without an act of Congress, delivering a stinging rebuke to an administration that has repeatedly tried to reshape federal institutions through sheer executive will.

"The Kennedy Center's organic statute makes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board's unilateral say-so," Cooper wrote. "Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it."

Beatty, an Ohio Democrat and Kennedy Center board member, launched the lawsuit in December after being muted and blocked from speaking during a virtual board meeting where Trump allies voted to rename the center over her objection. She refused to let it go, and the courts backed her up.

"The Kennedy Center is an institution that belongs to the American people, not to Donald Trump," Beatty said after the ruling. "He has desecrated this sacred memorial for his own vanity. I am proud to have fought for the rule of law and to protect this sacred institution."

The administration now has two weeks to tear down all signage and eliminate every reference to a "Trump Kennedy Center" from official materials.

Patrick Brady for County Legislator has officially qualified to appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot for St. Lawrence County Legislator on the Independent Line under the name North Country Solutions! Keep up the great momentum!

I am pleased to announce that I have officially qualified to appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot for St. Lawrence County Legislator on the Independent Line under the name North Country Solutions.

I am already honored to have the Democratic Party endorsement, and qualifying on the Independent Line provides voters with another option to support my campaign focused on practical problem-solving and working together for the future of the North Country.

To qualify, 121 valid signatures were required, and I am grateful that we were able to submit 170 signatures during the petitioning period.

A special thank you to Jean Gang, Scott Miller, Jackie Bartholomew, and Sue Rau for their help gathering signatures and supporting this effort. I also want to sincerely thank everyone who signed my petition.

One of the best parts of the process was going door to door again, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, and hearing directly about the issues, concerns, and hopes people have for our communities. Those conversations are invaluable, and I truly appreciate the encouragement and support I have received throughout this campaign.

Garcia today announced that the City has successfully recovered more than $9 million from Amazon after the company’s delivery vehicles accrued fines due to idling violations.

'Amazon is worth $2 trillion. Yet, it did not deign to pay the millions of dollars it racked up in unpaid fines as its’ trucks illegally polluted our air and forced New Yorkers to breathe in their exhaust. We are going to collect every dollar they owe the people of this city,' said Mayor Mamdani. 'These laws exist for a reason: cleaner air, healthier communities, and a city where corporations are held to the same standard as everyone else. Today we are making clear that no company – no matter how large or powerful – is above the law.'"
