We believe social media can be a powerful way for people to connect, share information, and stay informed. However, it can also be a tool used to amplify misinformation, speculation, harassment, and obscenity, all of which are especially dangerous during serious incidents, active investigations, and matters of public safety when accuracy and trust are essential. For these reasons, we adopted the following social media policy on January 6, 2025:
• We use social media platforms to share official information and updates.
• We maintain a content-neutral policy that disables comments across all posts.
• This approach ensures the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of our communications while avoiding the creation of a public forum.
• Importantly, this policy does not create a legal obligation to host public discourse on these platforms. While comments are disabled on our social media posts, we welcome and encourage members of the public to share feedback, concerns, or suggestions through the following channels:
