I wish that I had seen this earlier because there are very few callings that we have in this world that are more important than protecting and loving our children.

Please repost, share and donate if you can. There are nothing but servants that work at our CAC. Every dollar counts.

We would like to send a special Thank You to The Serve Team from Radiant Church in Wills Point for the generous water donation this morning. Even with the weather, they were still out visiting locations in Wills Point.

Van Zandt County Public Notice:
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the request of the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), a statewide test of emergency alerting systems will occur between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon.
As part of this drill, Van Zandt County as well as other local jurisdiction across Texas may test systems used to notify the public during emergencies. Depending on the jurisdiction you are in at the time of the test, you may receive a test alert on your mobile phone and/or hear outdoor warning sirens during this time. Because jurisdictions across our region may participate in this test, you may receive more than one test alert on your phone during the testing period.

***This will only be a test. No emergency action is required***

Emergency alerts are used to quickly notify residents about serious safety situations, such as:
Severe weather
Hazardous material incidents
Evacuations
Public safety emergencies
Burn ban notices

Testing helps emergency managers confirm that alert systems work correctly and helps agencies improve how alerts are delivered.
Please do not disable emergency alerts on your mobile phone. These alerts provide important information that can help protect you, your family and your community during emergencies.
If you are not registered on the RAVE Smart 9-1-1 system with Van Zandt County to receive these alerts, please go to this link to sign up:
https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=vanzandtcounty

Thank you for helping keep our community prepared.

As the Van Zandt County Fair approaches, please park in the authorized parking lots only. The road that is in between the rodeo arena and the fairgrounds gets very congested. Signs will be posted. Citations may be issued and towing can be enforced. Please spread this information as I would much rather people just not park in the fire lanes than have to issue a citation or tow a vehicle. Thanks for your cooperation.

The burn has has been lifted. However, TCEQ outdoor burning rules in Texas generally prohibit open burning, but allow exceptions for residential trash, leaves, brush, and trees if they originate on the property. Fires must be attended, at least 300 feet from adjacent structures, and only conducted during daylight hours (starting 1 hour after sunrise, ending 1 hour before sunset).

Key Requirements and Rules:
Prohibited Items: Never burn electrical insulation, treated lumber, plastics, rubber, heavy oils, asphaltic materials, or hazardous chemical wastes.

Safety Measures: A responsible party must remain with the fire, with a working water source nearby.

Allowed Burning: On-site burning of plant growth (trees, brush, leaves) is typically allowed. Non-commercial cooking and recreational fires (campfires) are allowed.

Allowed Exceptions
Domestic Waste: Burning household waste is permitted only if no trash pickup service is available. However, All of Van Zandt County offers trash service.
Land Clearing: Trees and brush from land clearing may be burned if the material was generated on-site.

The laws and TCEQ outdoor burning guide can be found at
