Part-Time Transfer Station Attendant
Town of Canton, Maine
The Town of Canton is seeking a dependable and customer-focused individual to serve as a Part-Time Transfer Station Attendant. This position is responsible for the daily operation of the Town's transfer station and recycling program while providing excellent service to residents.
Schedule
• Part-Time
• Wednesday and Saturday (7 AM – 4 PM)
Compensation
• Hourly wage based on experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate the Town Transfer Station in accordance with local and State regulations.
• Manage and oversee the Town's recycling program.
• Assist residents with proper disposal and recycling procedures.
• Monitor materials entering the facility and ensure compliance with transfer station rules.
• Perform routine grounds maintenance, including litter control, snow removal, and site upkeep.
• Conduct routine building and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Complete required recordkeeping and reporting, including State of Maine reporting requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility.
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work independently and interact professionally with the public.
• Basic recordkeeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
Training Requirements
• Maine DEP Transfer Station/Recycling Training certification is required (or must be obtained within a timeframe established by the Town).
