In Loving Memory of Luna 🌙🐾
On May 12, 2026, sweet Luna came to us as an owner surrender with very little information about her past. What we did know right away was that she was a gentle senior girl who deserved comfort, kindness, and love.
When Luna arrived, we discovered a very large mass behind one of her legs. It was clear that if Luna was going to have any chance at being comfortable, she needed surgery as soon as possible. Thanks to the support of our community, Luna underwent surgery and the mass was successfully removed.
Sadly, just two days later, Luna passed away in her foster home.
While our hearts are broken that we did not get more time with her, we find comfort in knowing that Luna spent her final days surrounded by love. We are incredibly grateful to her foster family, who opened their home and hearts to a dog they had just met. They made sure Luna knew comfort, kindness, and compassion during her final moments. They stayed by her side, loved her unconditionally, and gave her the dignity every dog deserves.
Luna’s time with us was far too short, but she touched the hearts of everyone who met her. Though we may never know much about her life before coming to the shelter, we are thankful that her last chapter was filled with care and love.
Luna’s story is one that we want the public to know because it is a reality that shelters face. When surrendering a pet, we cannot stress enough how important it is to share any and all information you know about them, especially medical concerns, past diagnoses, medications, changes in behavior, or anything that may help us provide the best possible care. We are not here to judge. Our only goal is to help. The more information we have, the better prepared we are to meet an animal’s needs and advocate for them from the moment they walk through our doors.
Every detail matters. Being honest about a pet’s condition can make a tremendous difference in the care they receive and may even save valuable time when medical intervention is needed.
Run free, sweet Luna. No more pain, no more discomfort, just endless sunshine, soft beds, and peace. You were loved, and you will never be forgotten. 🌈💚🐾
Thank you to Luna’s foster family for giving her the greatest gift of all: love when she needed it most.❤️
