Tourism IS economic development. Today’s announcement that Canton is a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community is a direct reflection of what tourism brings to our community. Jobs, revenue, and visibility for the businesses that call Canton home. Proud to see our community earn this recognition.
It’s official! Canton is a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. 🌟
Today the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Department announced that the City of Canton, Texas has earned this designation from Travel Texas, recognizing our community as a destination committed to growing tourism the right way.
This one isn’t really about us. It’s about every hotel, resort or B&B that welcomes a tired traveler at the end of a long First Monday weekend. Every vendor who’s been setting up under the same oak tree for thirty years. Every restaurant that stays open late when the crowds roll in. Every resident who gives directions to a lost family from Dallas.
Canton welcomes over a million visitors every year and that happens because of you.
A huge thank you to Governor Greg Abbott, Senator Bob Hall, Mayor Lou Ann Berry, our City Council, and our partners at First Monday Trade Days, Splash Kingdom Paradise Island - Canton, Yesterland Farm and every small business that makes this town worth visiting.
The state put a name to what we’ve always known: Canton is truly tourism friendly.
