June is Responsible Fatherhood Month, a time to celebrate and recognize fathers, stepfathers, father figures, and adoptive fathers, for the pivotal role they play in families, communities, and society at large. June is a time to appreciate the essence of responsible fatherhood.

Today, we are sharing a memory from one of our staff members, Lori, about a lesson that her father taught her that she still carries with her today. Lori’s dad will turn 89 in November!

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Designated a federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth invites all of us to reflect, learn, and recommit to the ongoing work of equity and justice.

At the Early Childhood Resource Center, this commitment begins with children and families. We believe every child deserves a strong start, and every family deserves access to the support, resources, and opportunities that help them thrive. Through strengthening families, improving early learning experiences, and building community readiness, we work to create a more equitable future from the very beginning.

We also recognize that this work must be rooted in respect and inclusion. We strive to create a welcoming environment that honors diverse perspectives and supports those who care for and educate young children.

Today, and every day, we commit to ensuring that all children and families have the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.

On Autistic Pride Day, the Early Childhood Resource Center acknowledges the dignity, strengths, and unique potential of children and individuals living with autism.

Every day, our work supports families, early educators, and child care programs in creating inclusive and responsive environments where children of all abilities can learn, grow, and thrive. Building understanding early helps strengthen families and communities for the long term.
