Stark County Fatherhood Coalition

Stark County Fatherhood Coalition The Stark County Fatherhood Coalition is committed to empowering fathers to take an active, positive, and consistent role in their children’s lives.

We believe strong fathers help build strong families, and strong families build thriving communities. The Stark County Fatherhood Coalition is committed to helping fathers engage positively in their children’s lives. We sponsor programs that build family connections and provide education that benefits both fathers and the broader community. We strive for a community where all fathers have the oppo

rtunity to be present and involved, where challenges are reduced, and the value of fatherhood is widely recognized and respected. The organization believes in the following core values:

-Children have a natural right to the consistent nurturing and guidance of both parents and benefit the most when both parents work together in a positive and collaborative manner.

-Collaboration with families, individuals, schools, non-profits, public agencies, policy makers, the private sector, employers, funders, faith-based, and other community partners to achieve our mission.

-We recognize cultural differences regarding family structure.

-Positive fatherhood and parenting strengthen the community.

-Encouraging fathers to protect, provide, and be present in their children’s lives.

: Yesterday was the annual Fathers Walk Your Child to School Day, proudly sponsored by Stark County Job and Family Services and the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition. Participation grew in 2025, with approximately 2,200 fathers and 2,800 children taking part in the event.

Fathers Walk Your Child to School Day encourages fathers and other significant caregivers to show support for their child’s education by walking or driving them to school. Research shows that children whose fathers are involved in their education perform better in school.

Representatives were on-hand at participating schools yesterday morning to greet walkers and distribute free gifts, provided by the Fatherhood Coalition, Buckeye Health Plan, Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio, AmeriHealth Caritas, and CareSource.

Thirty-six schools participated this year in the following school districts:

• Alliance City School District: 353 fathers, 396 children
• Canton City School District: 765 fathers, 948 children
• Plain Local School District: 843 fathers, 1108 children
• JRC – Canton Locations: 29 fathers, 46 children
• Head Start – Massillon/Canton: 117 fathers, 148 children
• Beacon Academy: 23 fathers, 27 children
• Our Lady of Peace: 50 fathers, 150 children

The mission of the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition is to empower fathers to take a positive role in their child's life, sponsor activities that strengthen families, and educate the community. For more information, please call 330-451-8477 or visit StarkJFS.org.
