Canton Public Schools Receives Statewide Recognition for Leadership and Educational Communications
CANTON, Conn. — October 23, 2026 — The Canton Board of Education and Canton Public Schools have earned statewide recognition from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) for strong leadership and excellence in educational communications.
The Board received the CABE Level One Leadership Award for effective governance and a commitment to student achievement. The award honors boards that meet established standards in leadership, professional development, policy, community relations, and organizational effectiveness.
Canton Public Schools also received a Bonnie B. Carney Award of Excellence for Educational Communications for its New Teacher Introduction video, shared at the district’s Opening Convocation in August, and its Community Designed 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. Both initiatives demonstrate the district’s commitment to clear communication, collaboration, and meaningful community involvement.
“These honors give us another reason to be proud of Canton Public Schools,” said Board of Education Chair Louis Daniels. “Our outstanding educators, dedicated staff, and school leaders are supported by a community that cares deeply about our children. These awards celebrate the teamwork that makes Canton such a special place to learn and grow. I am proud of our Board and district team for keeping students at the heart of our work and involving our community in shaping their future.”
The awards will be presented to the Board of Education at the CABE/CAPSS Convention on Friday, November 20, 2026.
